I think an interview with MV would be interesting even if it he won't answer any questions about what's in store for the future. Regardless of your opinions about the V1, or VR there is no denying that Mike Valentine has been one of the most influential figures in the industry the last 30 years.
If you keep that up, you will be clicking for several weeks until the next production run gets finished after the back ordered parts for the run become available!

Lastly if anybody just can't wait to order a V1, last time I called V1 last week they were talking orders over the phone. There is an issue with the website processing orders if there is no stock and it automatically charging a card when a unit can't be shipped so they turned off the website until they have stock. A phone in order doesn't get a credit card automatically charged so they will take them and only charge when they ship.
.
FYI: Look a timestamp in my comment;

As of two minutes ago, talked live on phone. They are not taking any orders for the V1 at this time. Was told to go to web site and sign up for notice when they are able to fulfill orders.

She was nice. Only able to say official words of waiting on parts before production begins again. I asked that if I wanted to buy a V1 via pre order, is that possible. No was answer. I mentioned there will be pent up demand, I would pay for it now to get in list to ship. Said that was not possible. Asked if I should order accessories in order for phone apps to work now, was told to order it all at same time once detector was available.

FYI folks...

Thats telling since there is no sign up to be notified about an order availability.... only when a new product or update is available.

But the usual price is € 599 or $674.71.
I don't believe the VR Europe is official, although I could be wrong. I had always understood the only "official" seller of V1's was VR themselves. However, it is interesting they are discounting them (compared to the previous prices). Maybe they know something, looks like it's time to call/email VR Europe.

@imaitguy love your sig btw

I hadn't heard that expression in a long time. Now they say, "aspiring rap artist", generally after he gets shot by either another "aspiring rap artist" or by the po-leez.
Expiring rap artiste?

But it's Europe. Have to pay VAT, import fees etc. Plus the seller/distributor needs his cut. A company I used to work for charged (and got) a 40% markup over US prices on products sold into Europe. Helped to pay for fees, "flatten" exchange rates, etc.

You're right. If they have to pay retail USA price and then import them to sell in EU it's gonna cost a bundle.

Just call it V1+, V1', V1 Extra, V1 Extended, V1 Better, etc., if it ever comes out...lol. Or stick with V1 even if it's a major redesign. Car manufacturers do it all the time.
V1 extra v1 Plus or V1+

Why would Mike give up on the brand awareness of the in production since 1992 V1? Mike is not into being catchy with names. Look at all the updates to the V1 and it is still the V1. It would be my personal opinion that any new detector from VR would simple be the new and improved V1 or V1+ so the website stays the same as does the history of the V1. When he added ESP that would have been a perfect time to say here is the new and improved V2, but everything stayed the same.
Ha ... V1+

Great minds think alike my friend !!
Ya beat me to it. ... AGAIN ....

So, this could be nothing as everyone knows, but it seems weird that you would have a parts supply issue that stopped your production like this. You don't go single source on something that would keep you from making your product, at least not with some sort of safe guards in place. That's just terrible business practice. If that's really what happened here, someone at Valentine really dropped the ball. So that lends a little bit more creedence to the possibility of something new.

On the other hand, even if it is something new, when you retool your production lines, you should have built up stock beforehand in preparation for those lines being down for retooling. So even if that's the case, they shouldn't have run out. That being said, if they were trying to run with minimal inventory, running out of stock is an easier mistake to make in this situation vs the "parts" situation above. Not only would you run out of your completed units but you would probably have run out of some of the piece-parts as well and you would have no way of actually making more product since your production line was retooled for the next product.

Just musings from a manufacturing engineer. ;)

As many have said, The Valentine people are probably reading this thread and laughing their butts off, but it's fun to speculate.

Just asking for a firmware update past 3.8952... will also take hardware update if possible!

View attachment 115032
I have 3.892 (TMF1) and according to the upgrade page I can send mine in for an upgrade right now. It is just a firmware update for $79 no hardware changes required.

I think 3.8952 is still the latest. I would think v4 is coming at some point, I'll update both mine at that point!
