So you are suggesting an RDF radar detector timeshare? :waycool:
Something like that, an RD swap/loaner service. A cool idea although I'm not sure if there would be much of a market or demand for it.

Yup. The OP needs to understand that radar waves and encounter scenarios are unique and unpredictable. Occasionally, short detections will happen ON EVERY platform for a variety of reasons. My most recent was a short 34.7 that I barely had 2 seconds of warning of. Rather than chastising my V1 for it, I examined the encounter based on my data, my dash cam. I concluded, due to the ramp up and my knowledge of what my V1 is capable of and how it normally performs, that the Leo had either switched from rear to front or had just hit his transmit button. Perhaps one of my fellow motorists a ways in front of me appeared over the limit to him. Who knows. Bottom line: if my V1 had been an R7, the result would have been the same.

We must all remember too that all testing data we see is usually in ideal scenarios, towhereas real world encounters are not always.
That's very fair, and I agree. Perhaps I was to hasty. Either way, I have love for the V1. Still and always will be a top notch RD!

Don't the companies have a try-and-return policy? Subject to a restocking fee.
I'm always amazed at this service in the US. In NZ, you bought it, it's yours is the rule. Some retailers are more reasonable if what you've bought isn't suitable, but they do expect you to buy something else.

Looks like we agree again! My Redline-O has X band turned off and is segged on 5-6-8. K band is also on. RDR is of course off. After reading @GTO_04 's post on running TSR I've been running my Redline quite a bit lately since I sent my Whistler CR97 to Vortex for his upcoming tests. I've been switching between the Redline and my R1. With TSR on it is damn near as quiet as my R1! It's also every bit as good on K band, even with TSR on! I knew about TSR years ago but for some reason never tried it. On 34.7 my R1 edges the Redline out, but on 35.5 my Redline edges out the R1. On severe off axis, the R1 wins out and is amazing! Both of them spank my V1 on 34.7 and 35.5, but on K band, at least with pop turned on, my V1 is better than both of them! The V1 is also faster and better against Q/T and I/O than both of them, although the Redline is very close. I can 100% guarantee that I am not biased in any way against any of these detectors! I love them all and can't bring myself to sell any of them!
Just re-read this. I might try my Redline-O with TSR on, just to see what happens.

Try TSR+Auto too. I find that Auto helps with Acura/Honda BSMs.

I'm loving it with TSR on! It acts almost like my R1 on highway mode with no filters on, which is how I run it on 1.48. Everyone else seems to bitch about the R's filtering, but it works just fine for me even when they are all turned off! When I ran my Redline with just auto mode, it scared the hell out of me with every BSM hit! It treated every one of them like a point blank I/O shot! It doesn't hurt the range of my Redline on K band either. I don't know why I ran it for all those years and never once tried TSR! That goes to show you how much I hate to run any kind of filtering here in I/O hell NC!

Thanks, I'll run the Redline this week just for the hell of it. Yeah, those BSM's are a full blast that makes you $h1t your undies...LOL

You have K Filter set to off?
Yes! I have advanced mode at the ready set at 70% on K band if I need it, but I run highway mode 99% of the time with all filters off! I don't run TSR on on my R1 either. I'm running 1.48. It filters all of the trucks and almost everything except for Acuras of course! I'm in a rural area almost all of the time so that makes a big difference! If I run my Redline without TSR or my 3.872 V1 on this same commute it will drive me up the wall! I max out every detector that I run for I/O and all out range on K band and 34.7 and 35.5! Filtering is at the bottom of my list!

So what you’re saying is there’s no way to run K unfiltered on the R-series. I’ll admit I never tried, but I certainly assumed that if I turned K Filter off, it would eliminate all K filtering. From what you’re saying, that’s not the case, which is bizarre and unexpected.

Are you certain you don’t have just TSF Off, but K Filter is on? Or vice versa maybe?

No! I am running both of my R1's unfiltered! I have TSF off also. There is filtering taking place on K band even if everything is turned off, there has to be! If I'm around Raleigh or any big city, I'll turn K filter and TSF on and use Advanced mode at 70% for K band. I'm just saying on my regular commute it does just fine for me wide open with ALL filters AND TSF off. I can't stand to run my V1 anymore with K band turned on unless I turn pop off, that calms it down quite a bit, but it also kills range and quickness against Q/T and I/O shots on K band. The Redline works great on the same commute as long as I run with TSR on. I just wish I would have tried running TSR on my Redline a long time ago!

Yeah, it still is running some sort of filtering even with K filter off. It's part of the reason that 1.46 was seeing bad reactivity. Actually, most detectors are running some sort of filter when K filter is off, probably just more or less aggressively depending on the case.

After returning my V1 last week, I started thinking. I have forgotten about the android head units that you can buy for your car now. Yes, they are another cost above that of the V1's cost, but I have to admit.....If I had one of those in my car, I would have kept the V1.

It's been suggested before. I think it's a good idea in theory, implementation would be the issue.

I too wonder how the Android head units would work with JBV1. The latest changes JB had made with the BSM filtering, heat map, live traffic and weather overlay are just amazing!
