I’m also looking at getting a Uniden R1/R3
Possibly R7 based on the reviews and after they iron out any bugs.
I have a V1 and an old escort redline pro A
I now live in QLD so looking to experiment with the redline, what are the best settings for the pro A in Qld? Any advice/info much appreciated
Cheers

The segments are pretty much the same for Ka
Ka segments 4,5,6 and 8.
For K looks like running the entire segment is required.

Yes, you cannot knock out the lowest K seg on the Pro A, as low K redflexs lurk there in QLD

Is the escort RedLine EX a good countermeasure against Redflex vans/fixed poles? Perhaps it’s best to wait and see how the R7 performs, also where would be the best place to buy an R7?
in Australia or import one myself? Thanks

In my experience no, but I hear they have released a few updates since I sold mine about 12 months ago.

No one's published any redflex results for the R7 yet, so its wait and see at the moment.

DGC in Perth will apparently stock them, but they are waiting to see if an Au/NZ model comes out, or at least one with the AU/NZ db on it like the R3.

This may be more up to date for QLD;

Queensland

Illegal To Use Radar Detector / LIDAR Jammers

Radar Frequency Range

K-Band (24.000GHz up to 24.250GHz)
Ka-Band (34.200GHz up to 35.200GHz)

Frequency's Reported
K-band - 24.125 +/- 25MHz (Gatso)
Ka-band - 33.3GHz (might be leaky RD) 34.700, 34.900, 35.100, 35.500
Ka 35.5 GHz confirmed (note: outside of ACMA permitted range for speed detection devices)

Redline Band Segmentation
Ka-band - N1, N5, N6, N8

AntiLaser Priority STIR Segmentation
K-band - K4
Ka-band - N1, N5, N6, N8

Radar
Decatur Genesis
Gatso Radar

Lidar-Laser
LTI Truspeed
LTI TruCam
LTI Ultralyte LRB
Kustom Signals Prolaser 4 (gradually taking over from Ultralytes)

Mobile Laser-Lidar Used
Vitronic Poliscan ( confirmed in full operation)

Average Speed Camera (P2P)
• Bruce Highway (southbound direction), between Landsborough and Elimbah, and
• Mount Lindesay Highway (north and southbound direction) between Jimboomba and Park Ridge South.

BeingAware's Foot notes:
Gatso24 detection best with your STI-R+/9500CI/Redline head mounted vertically to allow for the polarized radar beam).
Having the head vertical will improve detection and reduce false's considerably.

i just read this, been away from the forum for a long time and recently got a Redline EX to try against my older Redline. I just wondered what you mean by mounting vertically? I’m thinking you mean rotate the unit 90 degrees from the normal mounting position?

Correct.
However, you will loose range on Ka if you do that.

Thanks, not sure if I’ll try it. I went past one of those recently and got maybe 150m warning. A van usng laser yesterday and I got zero warning from the ex, but the ALP got it fine.

The only KA run in Queensland now is 34.9 and 35.1

I haven't seen a mobile gatso in the south east in a long time, but they seem to be still in use in FNQ.

Have watched a video where Vortex doesn't recommend an R1 for redflex. He steers you towards Radenso Pro M instead. Trouble is it's stealth down to about 5mtrs, which is pretty good but not exactly 100%. Cop car pulls up next to you and you're not looking out, it might give you away. Chances of that are slim but it does happen.
Interested in the testing of the R1 though in those states. Be aware of the NK7 surfacing on the streets of Australia too. It may render a majority of detectors useless quickly. I've considered buying something, but this has stopped me pulling the trigger on purchasing anything at this stage. Might end up a complete waste of money if the wrong choice is made. We really need more data, so test away carefully and see how it goes.
