I am more looking at MRCD/MRCT (Since I dont know the frequency of the Speedcams in my area... But they are installing something called '3D Radar' (which detects multiple vehicle's distance and speed)... No details other than a newspaper article. So my best bet seems to be a versatile RD. I am not sure if DFR9 would be enough... maybe @Vortex or @Dukes can suggest better.... :)
Not to get too much off topic.
I get what your after. We have those here as well. Mesta Fusion.

As for the DFR9, I tested it on K Band November 2018 along with a bunch of others.

For needing MRCD/ MRCT/ Redflex, I’m very sure that none of the Unidens, except maybe the R7, will be a good fit at all. Unfortunately they all have the 24.050 floor. The DFR9 will not detect MRCD/MRCT at all.

While you may not have seen the frequency lower than 24.050, they do move around a bit. Especially when the temperature drops and the antenna’s are outside. Even then, although not common, we do have them dip that low no matter what.

If need decent filtering, decent Range, MRCD/MRCT/Redflex protection, your choices are limited.
Pro-M
Redline- EX
R3 ( as long as your aware of the floor and stay as far away from FW 1.48 as you can if you need MRCD detection)

The jury is still out in the R7. I’m going to get a chance to test it soon.

Here’s the test results against K band. You’ll see the DFR9 didn’t do that great on this particular test. It’s only one test, so put it together with others to get an idea.

Yeah if you want Multaradar support, skip the DFR’s. The R3 and R7 would be better, but the Pro M would be better still.

Some more Edmonton MRCD testing.

This was a very difficult unit to detect:

So as I mentioned a few posts above, some MRCD trucks in Edmonton are detected as K band. Here is what that looks like:

This can present an issue if you use mute memory in the area as well. Uniden has been made aware of this so hopefully, we see a fix right away!

This spot is brutal! Luckily, I've only encountered this in this one specific spot. The Net DSP, R1 and R3 false there, so it wasn't really surprising the R7 did as well. You can mute memory MRCD but not the entire portion of that false. They set up (around 3:29 in the video) an actual MRCD truck there.

A few speed signs will also trigger MRCD alerts, but nothing too crazy (so far). Zero vehicle BSM/CAS systems creating MRCD falses on the R7. It's been pretty quiet with regards to MRCD falsing for me.

Next to Southgate mall on 51 ave.
Lol.

I can’t imagine 111 st running parallel to the tracks would be a happy place. Lol.

I’ve never seen that. The R3 does the same thing? On 1.46 and 1.48? I might have to try that that for $hits and giggles.
Look forward to your R7 testing.
Thanks.
I’m back in the country now, so I’ll hook up with Dukes and we’ll figure something out.
I’ve already been through 4 MRCD traps since I’ve been back.

@DrHow
Dukes is right. MRCD testing is all about opportunity. Every circumstance is a totally different situation. They also do not stay in one location for more than 2 hours. Sometimes less.

Even if I followed the same truck all over the city, the results would change. Cars parked in front of it or not. On the main road or parked on a side street beside the road. Terrain, vegetation, K band speed signs in the area. ..... they all have some effect. With MRCD it’s dramatic.
Lucky, or unlucky for me, there’s 7 regular MRCD trap locations where I can usually find one. Some are better than others for have places to turn and get multiple runs in a short time, because that’s all you get.

I’d like to wait until the FW’s are across the board for everyone before I try it.

Here is a quick test I did with the Uniden R7 and Radenso RC-M. This was a particularly difficult unit for the Uniden R7 to detect.

Same unit as above.

That looked a lot like my MRCD test with 1.48. On the R3.

No alert until after your in the kill zone.

I don’t really get it. They had a good jump on it with 1.46. I really don’t know why they’ve gone backwards, and it doesn’t look like they made any headway with a more sensitive detector? One that’s made to detect MRCD.

You really couldn’t fault them with the R3. It was never intended to pick up MRCD, but they did it. The R7 was built with MRCD detection in mind, and it seems worse.

Hmmm. Well it’s in Attowave’s hands now. Im
Sure it’ll take a little more time tweaking the FW.

I hope they get it. They were so close.

At least the R1 and R3 have the heartbeat so you can turn on the scan display and tell if it is filtering the signal or not. That way you know if the detector actually sees the signal. I hope they put it back in for tests like this.

There is so much k band junk being spewed in that location I’m not so sure it would be very useful.

Hmmm definitely not a good showing for the R7 on that one. I wonder how the pro M would have done on that particular trap

I can say for sure I had 1 instance where my pro M alerted when I was in the kill zone. But it was due to location and surroundings 170st north bound by the brick warehouse. So many lanes of road, truck parked on the service road. 0 cars in front.
