So, it is obvious that the range of 24.197-24.202 is dedicated to the Honda/Acura division and have never had an REAL K band alert by an LEO in this range. I feel if Uniden just adjusted their K-Narrow range to extend out a little then the BSM filtering will be 100% better. It seems like an easy fix and no additional hardware necessary. I would assume Radenso has this bandwidth on their detectors closed off and why their detectors do not alert to the BSMs. I love my Uniden R3 but it gets annoying with the onslaught of Hondas/Acuras out there.

Anyone have thoughts on this one?

NetRadar has just done this and it makes a huge difference with those falses.

I would like it react like a lockout where it will light the screen but not alert. I don't know why they can't program a permanent "lockout" of 24.200 +/- .004 or just lower K Narrow by .004.

I would also like to see Advanced mode have a K band Narrow or Wide option separate from Highway.

I agree 101%. It seems so simple and would make a huge difference.

I have been whining and moaning for K band segmentation on the R3 fora while now. We would probably only need two segments, one from the very bottom (23.9?) up to 24.195 and then 24.196 and higher. If people want to turn off segment 2 and take the chance, so be it. Escort segmented K band on the Redline EX but used batty segments that didn't really address the issue.

I have never encountered an LEO in this range. Has anyone in this forum? I mean, Uniden needs to look at this because it could truly make or break their consumer sales, and we know the competition is HEATING up. @UnidenSupport

Original discussion in the NetRadar forum is here, and some feedback on performance is here.

I’ve confirmed a legit LEO at 24.194 once. But I’d still happily run a notch filter unless/until they get a handle on filtering out Honda/Acura BSMs. In my case, I’d rather it not act like a lockout, where it still displays the signal, but rather don’t alert at all.

I too have seen a LEO at 24.199 only once and this was in Bartlett, a suburb of Chicago. I do like the idea of having it segmented, but it a way that it would act like a locked-out signal as mentioned above. That way if it is a LEO you can maybe see a ramp up in signal strength differentiating it from a false.

I am also curious as to how Uniden will be addressing the newer Acuras/FCAs that I've seen falsing around 24.168.

My preference (and not worth much as I'm not yet a standalone Uniden owner) would be exactly the opposite. If I feel like making judgment calls on individual alerts in the 24.195-24.205 range, I'd want to make sure I noticed it immediately - like any other alert. But if I felt that an upcoming drive presented no appreciable risk of a LEO in that range, I would want it simply off.

Either have an alert that I make a judgment call on, or remain silent. I'm not a fan of a halfway, less-noticeable alert that I still need to make a judgment call on.

"Do, or do not - there is no try" or something like that...

I’m pretty sure this assumption is wrong, Radenso just has a better grasp on filtering I believe.

Ugh, me too. These can be horrible.

I would like this option too.

Something I noticed is that most BSM never go above a 3 in strength. Maybe if they incorporated the lockout feature on 24.200 +/-.004 and then made it so it will not alert unless the strength gets high. This would definitely would give you a lot less time to react, but it is better than completely truing off a band.

Out of curiosity, what's the advantage over a regular alert then? (I assume you were talking about the "light up the screen but no sound" comment, not the "permanent lockout of that slice of K-band" comment).

Even a selectable Wide, Narrow, and Super Narrow (Honda proof) selections.

It makes the drive less annoying for passengers while still giving me the information I need to make a decision. 99.9% of the time I’m gonna spot the Acura within 100ft and ignore the alert but I don’t like turning off segments personally. Heck, I’m even nervous to run Ka 2,5,8 so I run 2,4,5,6,8 which is probably silly for my location but I still do it. Personally I don’t think I’ve had anything in the 24.195-24.205 range but I’ve had legit encounters both above and below that range so I feel it would be reckless to completely ignore that segment in my area. Obviously the best solution would be if Uniden could come up with a proper filter for these vehicles but I’ll take what I can get.

I have a local LEO at 24.202. I believe @oldcelt sees 24.207 in VT.

K band range is so narrow as-is, any segmentation is going to be a risk. All manufacturers specify their K band guns at 24.125 or 24.150 GHz +/- 100 MHz, so these guns are still technically "in-tune".

Everyone just described what an app like JBV1 could do. Wish it was available for my R3 and soon to be R7.

Newer Acuras emit around 24.168
Newer Mazdas emit around 24.123
Notch filters are no good. Improvement of the BSM filtering is key. MRCD is pointless in this platform since it can't scan low enough to cover all threats. I hope @UnidenSupport is listening.

Followed a cx5 yesterday putting out a constant 24.126 for over a mile and a half, was also getting 24.156 behind that mazda.

Got stuck behind a Jeep for 8 miles today.. was bouncing between 24.160 and 24.168... It sure was fun. On the hwy, it's can get bad, but usually there's enough open lanes to just pass them But today.. one lane, no place to pass, and the guy's up to 10 mph below the limit.. Nowhere to go but stuck..

I think I might need to take a serious look at the Pro-M.

BTW, when this was going on, I was thinking... on a GPS detector, why can't a manufacture have a quiet-ride feature that's based on PSL? Say one could set it to PSL or PLS + 10, 15, whatever.. that was, if we're traveling below this threshold, we wouldn't need to worry about BSM.. And BSM in a traffic jam is the worse!

I have also seen the 24.168 from a Pacifica.
