Just curious if there’s any updated settings recommendations for the Max 360. I’ve just been running mine on highway mode ever since that one update year and a half ago or so that supposedly limited the K Band quite a bit to reduce the idiot car falses. I’m pretty sure the 360 has had an update or two since then so is it still a good idea to run this detector on highway mode? Thanks.

The newer updates help with the K Band Lockup issue. This is a bug that is manifest where the unit will stop responding and alerting to RADAR. It was triggered when it detects two sources of K Band radar at the same time. You'll definitely want to apply the newer firmware updates to increase the reliability and avoid the lockup issue.

Regarding Highway sensitivity -- that's a user preference. Perhaps you can share with us what you know about your threat environment. Do you encounter K Band on highways (speeds we typically associate with 50+ mph)? How about Low Powered K Band?

I recommend highway with tsr off. I just ran a 4 hour road trip...was only suppose to take 2.5 without traffic. The 360 only chirped a few times to bsms even in heavy traffic.

As said, you should update as well!

I updated both my detectors several weekends ago so they should be up to date but ever since that one update from long ago that I mentioned, the one that had a lot of people riled up because of the decreased K band sensitivity, that the best setting for that was to run it in highway mode.

As far as driving style, nothin too different from the norm, I wouldn’t think. The good thing is, most of the city departments - county and city are both pretty easy to spot since they don’t hardly shut their radar off. It’s the Oklahoma highway patrol that like to be tricky but they all run Ka Band.

I really don’t have any complaints with the settings I’ve always used ever since that one particular update but I was just curious that since that was a long time ago, if any of the updates since then has fixed this to where you can go back to auto mode.

The IVT/CAS/BSM filtering is so good that I run wide open most of the time. The locked-out X and K band signals still show in Expert FR display, which I like to see up to 4 bogies with front and back signal bars. I really love the Standard Plus Audio Tones with BAND for Arrow Mode. I also like Auto-Mute HIGH for turning down the volume just enough, and not too much.

Here are my settings:

Knocked it out of the park with this post. Great reference for anyone to start with. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Although on a couple cars, I have the overspeed set for 165. Just in case I need to be reminded of not getting too carried away. Ha ha

You have your overspeed alerts on RD and EL set for “retired silver hair driver” mode. :)

Thanks for the good humor! :D Got a chuckle out of that. You nailed me on that. Going silver, but only half way there.

Actually, it's my manual JTK threshold here in NY. Could have made it 75, but there is some margin for tolerance when they're pissed at me for not getting a reading when they know I'm going too fast. With a quick look at my RD, I see "red", I'm dead. I see "black", time to switch "back" to receive mode. I should have changed LASER ON to LASER OFF in my parameter settings, as I let the TMG do all that with positive gun ID filtering.

Besides...my sporty "looking" 2019 Honda Insight would EXPLODE if I ever attempted those speeds. I know...I'm a "lightweight". :D

Like your idea of color coordination for your laser exercise/dance with LEO. That is good idea.

10-4 on that, but I actually had this 3G Insight stretching her legs last weekend at a buck five and even a buck ten at times. And it handled the road like a magnet with really low center of gravity and great steering. Slices through traffic real smooth. Who ever though a "hybrid" would do that? And no, I didn't have the combustion engine maxed out on RPM's. Surprisingly, the electric motor did most of the heavy lifting. I found out this "hybrid" is no wimp. Not a race car, but it can cruise with speed. Love this car!

So is 4 second auto-JTK enough to come down 50 when hit? Even with good regen assisted four-wheel disk breaks, that's not a lot of time. I may need to practice that a bit.
