Nice video. I thought that was a very good detection especially with that sharp curve.

I agree! It was like what I would expect from my Redline or R1. I was impressed!

I got a good off axis around a curve 34.7 save this morning! I was impressed with the 97's off axis range on this one! I was running 72 or so with the cruise set when I got the first blip! I had plenty of time to slow down to 60 or so before I met him. Keep in mind that he was running at least as fast as me, so he was at one hell of an angle deep in the beginning of that blind curve when I first picked him up! The ramp was also excellent on this encounter! Skip to 07:58 to get right to the action if you'd like.

Indeed, it was a very good detection. No buildings close by to help with reflection, only the tree line there. Definitely a save, and that's all we want from our units...

I'm beginning to really love these settings- TFSR off, FDSr### on, K filter on 1, Ka filter on 0. The more I run it like this, the more I get used to FDSr###. It beeps a couple of times and then just shows the alert on the screen. It's not ideal I know, but this thing kicks @ss on everything else! I'm also even getting used to the Ka K band mixup. Amazing how a couple of killer detections makes everything good! @Marty K , you brought up a good point about reflections! I think that's what I'm most impressed with on these last couple of alerts, the fact that there wasn't really anything for the radar to reflect back to me on the ones from behind, or around that curve yet they were both very strong alerts!

I have gotten used to the K Ka mix up as well. It throws me off when I get a BSM punch through as K band because I am so used to a generic Ka or a 33.8 Ka signal for most BSMs. I don’t have any 33.8 in my area, so with the CR97 not having a specific K band frequency display capability, this quirk of the CR97 actually helps me identify BSM system false alarms.

Guys my CR97 is going on a cross country trip to @Vortex ! He is getting ready to do some testing and asked if he could borrow it! Even though I have all of the most killer detectors ever made, I will still miss the 97 while it's gone! Be on the lookout for his upcoming test! Hopefully it will kick @ss for him like it does daily for me! If it does the K Ka mixup glitch, which I'm pretty sure it will, I hope it will get Whistler's attention since it will be coming from Vortex! It's set up on kill with my favorite settings- Ka filter on 0 to 1, K band on 1, TFSR off, and FDSr ### on. I'm sure he will calm it down some for some of his tests, but he has promised me to run it on kill for most of the testing!

That's some exciting news! I am looking forward for the tests and results...

I bet it's range will be pretty good. My '97 seems better than my Redline EX (EX is in hiway mode) at Ka at 2, XK at 4, and TFSR off. I found a Ka speed sign here and the 97 sniffs it pretty far away. Better than the EX. Its a curvy road with parked cars so this isn't an eyeball view. It starts alerting at .9 of a mile nearly everytime. The EX varies. Sometimes .5 of a mile, sometimes more. The ka/k thing is way less with TFSR off which doesn't make sense.
