I have to wonder if it'll take the folks at Blendmount 6-7 months (or longer!) to release a R7 version.

The mount is supposed to be the same as the DFR7 according to Vortex, which already exists with Blendmount. I believe BM has a waiting list just until they fully verify but may still change up some stuff due to a totally different fulcrum point of a new design. Vortex will be updating us on this once he gets one though on all the mounting details for sure.

Why would they stall it? They're selling a piece of metal for ~$140, do you think they're going to miss out on all the new suckers that the R7 is going to generate?
You would think, but it took them a pretty long while to release the BM for the R1 / R3 after they were released.

You don't buy a whole new BM for a new detector, if you already have a BM you just buy the clip that holds the detector to the BM which is $30.
Plus BM has to get a hold of a R7 before they can design, so once the release happens they'll get one on pre-order and then design. Thats how they've been doing it for years unless they partner with Uniden and get a R7 earlier than pre-order.

This was discussed in a different thread but hopefully they will come out with a modification for the current R3 mount (which I use and enjoy) or jump in quickly and make a new one...

Yeah I'm hoping we can simply use the DFR7 mount, or ideally the R3 mount and call it a day.

Once I get an R7 in hand, I'll check with the DFR7 and R3 mounts to see which ones fit and to what degree. I'll also let BM know so that in case they need to make any changes on their end (which I doubt), they can get ready so that they can hopefully be ready by the time the R7 is launched.

The DFR7 mount tab is a little longer than the R-series tab. The R3 will work fine on a DFR7 mount, but the DFR7 won’t work on an R3 mount. If the R7 carries on with the R3 length tab, then it’s all good all the way around. If not, then it means if you have a Blendmount or permanent windshield mount (like I have) for the R3, you’ll need to replace the mount/attachment for the R7.

I guess we’ll see.

I really hope we can use the R3 bracket, being a Blendmount user is like the old Dana Carvey bit about buying toys for his kid: "DFR7, R3, R7, every time Uniden releases a new detector it's $29.99 to you."

Vortex any word on when you might actually have a unit from Uniden?

Wanted to seperate this from other topics on the R7. Vortex any feedback from Blendmount on a new mount or modification of existing R series mounts or other mounts?

No one has received an R7 yet so unfortunately we still don't have any info. The only update is I asked Uniden to send BM an R7 too so that they can do their own testing and development as needed, but right now we're all still waiting for the units to arrive.

IIRC didn't somebody mention that it was thought that the DFR7 blend mount was going to fit the R7. If that is the case, if one already had one, they would be done, and they already owned a Blend Mount all they would need it to order the detector part for a DFR7 saving half the cost.

I couldn't justify the cost of a blendmount for my r3... Went with a permanent windshield mount w/ 3m tape off eBay for like $8, and couldn't be happier. It's rock solid and doesn't wiggle at all. Went under the mirror due to a lack of space above and still wanting my visors, but looks great without all that mount hardware hanging down.

Aren’t the blendmounts about $100? ; while they are cool, when you get one, you’re sorta “married” to your detector as they’re not interchangeable with other brands.

The piece on the end that attaches to the detector is changeable and much less than the price of the entire mount..... That being said I think that blend mounts are way overpriced. I don't think they are very much over price for a manufacturing standpoint since they are high quality but they are way over kill. There are a lot of simple and cheap solutions.
