STI-R plus, can I use the rear laser shifter on the front? (1 Viewer)

I got a really cheap STI-R plus unit I couldn't say no to, so I figured I'd replace my wife's QI45. It only came with one front shifter and one rear shifter so now I'm wondering what the best course of action would be. Of course just buying the one missing front shifter is the best solution, but in the meantime what should I do? My first thought is to install the rear shifter on the front, it's much more convenient in that I can just bolt it onto the license plate anyhow. But in practice will this work?

Ive never heard of someone swapping the rear ZR4 head into a front ZR4 heads place on the interface, so im no help there. But I can tell you that moving the rear head to the front and leaving the rj connection in the (R) interface port will have negative effects on jamming performance. I have a 9500ci in stock that ill do a bench test with and see if it alerts or gives off any errors

I don't think it will have a negative effect. I recall seeing a fourm member with all 3 heads up front a few years ago. But definitely test it before relying on it.

I remember Escort telling us not to put the rear and the front together on the front, I forgot the issue but think it had something to do with cross talk and the potential for punchthroughs and jam codes. The front and rear may interfere slightly with each other as they were not meant to use this configuration. But it was standard practice for a lot of people to put all of the jammers up front for the ZR4.

I am not sure of the current effectiveness of the ZR4 system in your area, it might be too much work to install it considering the limited effectiveness it might have with guns in use. You might be better getting a newer system.

There were a few tests years back where having all the heads up front caused some problems. Plus I think you need the full system (2 working heads in front) to jam as it was originally designed.

Thanks guys, I'm bench testing it and I can verify having 1 front and 1 rear on the front ports has no error message. Whether that's reduced performance I'm not sure. But I'll most likely just dump them and grab an addon ALP system. Found out also it's a 9500CI, seller mislabeled it. Sigh, no KA segmentation or RDR.
