Take a look at your 1st review of the Escort 360C and give us your honest opinion if you really gave Escort a “Fair Shake” compared to the recent “Untested” Uniden R7 ....I don’t think you did....
soooooo let me get this straight . You say he was dishonest in his 1st test. But you want him to retest a product he already tested and give an answer you feel better about? So " usually" if a person is a liar they dont usually change just because. I'm sorry but to me this statement makes no sense. Ok, if you dont trust his test, get one and test it yourself

I agree with his assessment in general but I also think Vortex does an excellent job all around. Yes, with Escort too. Having people like him putting the time and resources required keeps the hobby alive and well. It’s good for everybody.

It is frustrating to see the crowds sport adulating fanfare for a product yet to be released & much less beta tested. There just seems to be an undercurrent at play that’s unsettling. It reminds me of rabid sports fans at times. It is what it is.

So something to keep in mind is that none of these radar detectors exist in a vacuum. Both the 360c and R7 have a lot of background, even before they're released and shortly after. Whether we like it or not, how Escort and Uniden operate factor into the equation as part of "how good" a detector is.

When the Max360c came out, it was basically a Max360 with a smaller and more reflective case, WiFi, a new mount, and some features like Ka segmentation that didn't affect performance, all for a nice price little price bump. There wasn't too much to get excited about then. WiFi was the only real new thing. That said, the detector has gotten better since, perhaps most notably in the BSM filtering department. That's one of the reasons why in some of my more recent reviews and comparisons, like the best radar detector comparison I just did at the end of the year, I said it was one of the best detectors out there.

As for the R7, we already know most everything about it too. It takes the R3, a detector that's already very highly revered, and adds the most commonly requested feature: arrows. Obviously that's something to get excited about. Unfortunately it also has the same BSM filtering and that's probably the other most requested feature and sadly that isn't planned on being changed. (With Kuni's departure, any work there I think will be pushed back.) Nevertheless, we have a good idea of what to anticipate, given what we know about the R3. Maybe things will change once we get the R7's in, but in the meantime, obviously it's an extremely exciting detector today.

@Stealthbull, I know you're a fan of Escort's detectors, and that's great. That said, I'm not going to rate it better just because you like it. I consider my own viewpoint as well as the viewpoints of many many others. I have been liking the 360c more and more lately. However, there's still things about it that annoy me like how the cruise alert low speed muting threshold gets overridden by the speed limit and I really don't like that. My wife's 360c falsed to laser today and her ZW5's went off. Escort STILL hasn't added the promised AutoJTK feature. She single pressed the mute button so I had to reach over and double press the mute button to JTK, just in case it was a legit alert. There's still stupid stuff like that that's a PITA. So I'm not 100% in love with the 360c. However, there's no detector that I think is 100%. Because this stuff continues to change and improve over time, periodically I'll go in and update my overall comparisons and that's generally how I approach things.

Rarely do I go back and rereview a detector unless things change drastically. I've done it before, but unless there's good reason to do so, I generally like to focus on working through the many other things on my list that I haven't addressed yet and still want to get to.

As with most all of my reviews, as technology changes and improves, my old reviews will eventually go out of date. This applies to all of them, not just with Escort products. With the 360c, I don't plan on rereviewing the detector from scratch. It's gotten better and I do like it more now than I did initially, but I don't see a good reason to go through all the work to do another video on it when I've got a bunch of other more pressing things I need to devote my time and resources to.

In my opinion as an all around balanced detector the 360/360c is probably the best out there. In other words, for people looking for a lot of things that do things well. It's not necessarily THE BEST in every category, but it is the best I think at doing everything well across the board. It makes a well balanced nice product.

I have done quite a bit of testing with it. The range is nice, and I always get plenty of warning range. However this is the one area especially off axis that it doesn't perform as well compared to some of the most sensitive detectors in that area like the R3, or the M3s. But one thing I have found nice, (even with KA band) when it goes off it's reliable and you can say it's a threat for certain. I have noticed that on axis it performs like a champ and to be honest it's not entirely necessary to have supreme off axis range for a lot of situations. So there's a lot of things to consider.

The lockup issue was really starting to bug me, and I tried personally to reproduce the issue and it frustrated me that I was not able to help with it any. But with this issue being addressed and appearing to be completely resolved it has helped my opinion on the detector even more. And I didn't even experience the issue, but the possibility was always looming. But my confidence in the unit is high, and as an all around well balanced unit, it's undoubtedly for me the best out there for all around features , performance, and one huge advatage it has is the BSM filtering is superb.

So regardless of anything else, I form my opinions based on my own experiences, not someone elses. Plus I am confused, because from what I see Vortex is positive about the unit as well and obviously regards it as one of the best units out there as well. So I am not sure exactly what the original poster here is alluding to. The only negative thing about the unit (lockups) has been fixed , so I am 100% confident in recommending it to anyone, and frankly I was confident before the fix, but this just increased that.

As for the R7, no one has reviewed this unit yet that I have seen, because .... well for one, no one even has one yet. lol But people who like the R3 obviously are excited and assuming what Uniden has presented pans out to be correct, then it's why people are excited. Some people need and love supreme off axis performance and sensitivity and this detector should possess that quality considering what we know about the R3, plus throwing in the arrows with that and all the features this has people intrigued, and that's great.... :) I too am intrigued and hopefully will get an opportunity to test this and offer my comments on this unit as well.

Speaking of comparisons, the one area I can never find a lot of feedback on is the Database effectiveness among the various RD manufacturers for their GPS equipped units.
I know Escort uses Defender which provides substantial accuracy (tags most RLCs and Speed Cameras almost down to the foot), it is updated weekly, and it has directional alerts which eliminate a ton of false ones.

Whenever I look at any manufacturer's new product to add to or replace an existing one that I have, this item is right up there along with range, BSM filter effectiveness, and price among the deciding factors. It is as important to suburban/ city drivers as range is to country drivers, as is off-axis detection to winding road/mountainous drivers. This, and ease of updating (both database/firmware) would be nice topics to know more about with respect to all such detectors whether it be from the manufactures themselves or users. The data being utilized by the GPS is as important as the GPS itself.

Viewing the recent “Very Upbeat” review of the not yet tested Uniden R7...I very much would like to see a re-evaluation of the Escort Max 360C with the new upcoming new Escort live app.....How about you folks?

Waze will blow any detector out of the water when it comes to reporting red light and speed cameras. I refused to pay for an extension of Escort's Defender database when Waze is free.

@fishing66 lol dont hold back on our account, tell us how you really feel :)
Let's just say that my "Ignore" list grew today. And it takes a LOT for me to put somebody on the Ignore list.

Anyway, Vortex did upload video with updated Escort 360c. It's not a full comparison but it does show that there are no lock-ups anymore:

a complete waste of time to reevaluate to itself - but don't worry the 360's will be in the r7 test comparison along with the v1 and many more.

Sarcasm aside, I'm sure Vortex knows better what he wants to show on his channel and when and I am sure he's perfectly capable of asking other people what they want to see on his channel if he really cares about that.

To put the amplifier for high range = not need many mind. To make a balanced device with a good range and not bad filter can’t do everyone
