I got my genesis 2 setup for around $200.00. That's the best money that I have ever spen! It has a 35.5 Ka band gun and a 24.150 gun. It works just like new and could still be set up in a cop car right now! Any time I want to run a test I can, in the house or in my cars! The Bushnell is also great to have as well. You can carry it around with you and use it anytime you want. I have to set mine up every time I use it.

Yeah the Kustom Falcon is a hand held gun.. Sturdy as hell and not made of plastic like bushnells.. It plugs right into a cig lighter socket or can be run on a power bank with an adapter. It's a great gun.

I did a little K band testing today with 1.37 Vs. 1.48

R Series K Band Reactivity 1.48 Vs 1.37

As I had mentioned earlier in the thread, the results are pretty close and I'll be running 1.48 over 1.37 due to that and the extra features. Still need to do some real world testing to confirm but I'm pretty comfortable with this release. It also has had similar performance to 1.37 on BSMs for me.

I feel the exact same way, its seems identical to 1.37 but now i have all the added features.. No MRCD around here so im not to concerned about that

We seem to agree on this. I feel the same way! I updated both of my R1's to 1.48 and bench tested them both. 1.48 seems identical on performance and filtering so far.

A week under my belt with 1.48 and I agree with many on the post, it's like 1.37 with the added benefits. No lag in 35.5 or 34.7 like I was experiencing with 1.46 with the Kustom and Stalker guns. I've tested it also with the K 24.122 and 24.143 and you can still quick trigger without an alert but it's nowhere near the lag as 1.46, maybe a touch slower than 1.37...
I like it so far!

I appreciate all the testing going on but it is very hard to gauge performance comparisons with users not sharing all settings. I run highway, k filter on, ka filter off, k wide, ka wide, tsf on, fw1.37. I like it and get a lot less bsm falses with these settings. Is the magic tsf in 1.48? Are any of the 1.48 users running tsf on? Sorry to beat a dead horse here, just looking for someone with comparable settings.

Definitely understood on people not posting their settings. FWIW, yours are pretty standard settings for FW 1.37. I"m running those settings except for TSF OFF and segmented 2,5,6,8. I'm running 1.48 the same way, 2,5,6,8 and TSF OFF. You may have better luck with BSM with it on, but I've got to believe there is going to be at least a little performance hit with it on vs. off so I don't use it unless I need it.

@mookiwan Im running those exact settings with mine in advanced mode as you are which is now running 1.48 (Tsf On). These are the same settings i was using when i was running 1.37. I do have my K band set at 60% just like i did on 1.37.. Its acting the same on 1.48 as it did with 1.37 but now i have the new features

My first run with 1.48 didn’t go as good as others are reporting. I got a CRV BSM in City mode with TSF on. I never got that with the same settings on 1.37 so I immediately went back. All of these positive reports has made my indecisive @ss load 1.48 again. I’ll be more patient this time and run it longer.

Thanks everybody for your input. The more info the better.

Reading this thread has made me just want to stick with 1.37. I’m in NY where Ka and K are both widely used. So I can’t afford any performance hit. I’m hoping the next FW will be released in conjunction with the R7. I never even upgraded to 1.46 and see no reason to go with 1.48 at this point either. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Loaded 1.48 on my R3.I got bsm falses like I never had with 1.37 . All settings were same as 1.37 Ran with mrcd on and off, results were the same. To me Uniden update reminds me of what happened to my Max 360 when I did an update and it turned a good working detector into a untrustworthy ornament on my windshield. One good thing is I can go back to 1.37.

So my trip into YEG was interesting. Waze advised me of red-light cameras at 840 metres yet my R3 alerted at 220 metres, WTAF? That's way to short or is it me?
You can adjust the alert distance for RLC in the firmware to make it longer.

Just wanted to add to what I mentioned before in thread . Settings for 1.37 and 1.48 were
Advanced
K band 60%
TSF on
There are quite a few vehicles when I go south of this area that are the problem BSM emitters . If I had gone further up country with less traffic probably would have not experienced the number of false alerts. Guess if I drove mainly in a very rural area would think 1.48 was good. Unfortunately where I live I have to drive to areas with more traffic and a lot more BSM stuff going on . IMO Uniden is giving bells and whistles but forgetting the real reason for driving with a detector . I have been using detectors since the late 70's and have seen many come and go . What I think is happening here is very common in this industry . Not a babe in the woods with detectors, first one was A Super Snooper and many more after.

Update on my settings, city, k filter on, ka filter off, k wide, ka wide, tsf off, mcrd off. Did a factory reset as well. Hope this helps.

Heck I didn't know that, can you point me to the instructions on how to do this? Much appreciated
I tried to find it, couldn't, and realized I must have been thinking of the Radenso XP. Sorry. :ughh:
