UPDATE
@DrHow @poolmon
Still have same problem. Everything seemed to working fine however this morning I got another false, this time from a 2014 Mercedes E-Class with BSM and every time I got near it would alert 33.8 as well as 35.5, and 34.7 off and on for over 5 miles until I finally got away from him.

I am still within my return period with Best Buy so I may be returning and getting another R3. I try so hard to like these 360's but this is now my 6th one with issues. It seems every time they update one thing they break another. Unless they acknowledge this in the next couple days I am bringing it back to Best Buy.

I have not been able to test my reloaded firmware yet but I'm not getting my hopes up since this time in performing the initial update using the green update software button, DTP took 2 full minutes to update (whereas my failed MAX IVT update it took only seconds). And, DTP itself reported via a pop-up message window that the initial install on the 360c had been successfully completed (which was not the case with the prior failed MAX update using DT).

I'm tired of being a beta tester for escort, which basically all their customers are. They apparently don't test anything before they release to users. I should've learned my lesson a while ago, but feel I am learning it now. Just glad I'm still within my return period.

Beginning to wonder on the failure rate of unit to unit calibration. One of the reasons I got the Max was some strange things I've seen on my Pro M. Several times a week I would get a strong Ka signal in the same place that came and went in the matter of 15-20 seconds. Today I got an alert in the same place. Same strength and duration. But is was K band and it was on my Max 360. On the same trip I encountered a transient Ka alert of just a bar behind me. When I looked behind me, I saw a Merc two cars behind. Tried to let it catch up but to no avail. I've only had this for a week (3 of those days unavailable because the car and 360 was in the shop) so I'll be on the lookout for these false Ka's. I'm also still in my trial period from BB.

Larry at Escort did PM me back and they are looking into the issue. If I get further information I will report it back here.

Sorry to here that....

For me this week, all of a sudden my 360c is acting like like some bubble pack Wal Mart detector. Yesterday it was falsing BSM in vehicles that have been quiet for a long time. Honda’s are one of the many brands it acted like it had BSM blocking at all. I was traveling to client and on conference call. Cranked me off since it blurted out false alerts in the car mike over the conference bridge. Unplugged it since I was a participant in the call. Then on way back was talking on phone, was doing it again. Was on busy bypass both times. I do not have cam or it. Do not know all the cars it falsed against. It was many. Also, three times it had a odd display. It alerted, the two signal bars (front/rear) were blank, the dividing line shown, and frequency blank. It almost seemed like it locked up, then recovered. Not sure. I also had one flip to Ka (maybe 35.8) from what was likely a BSM false.

I have not used it today. I will take my non updated GT360 with me. If I have this happen again with same direction BSM traffic, will change to GT and see if it does same thing. I bet it will not. Doing this just to confirm, now my 360c might be crippled from an WiFi update. Will duplicate the issues again, then reflash from scratch on DTP manual non green button process. Based on @Gowski, don’t think it will fix it. Can’t roll back to older version.

As of last time the O 360 and GT360 were used, they were flawless. Last time I used my 360c prior to update, worked flawless. Will work with them in next couple weeks on old FW see if they are still good.

Add me to the list of those you let Larry know have similar/same problem you do. See my last post.

I received an RMA from Escort for mine but after reloading all the software for the third time it “seemed” to work better on a road trip from TX to MS. There were some unidentifiable K alerts on the front antenna but the rear antenna did not have near as many strange Ka alerts as before. The rear antenna also seemed to hold onto signals for quite a bit longer and I wonder if it might somehow be more sensitive than before. If Escort is investigating these reports as they indicated to @Gowski then I am going to hold off sending it back for a bit to see if they issue another firmware fix.

Returned the 360c and picked up my 2nd R3. I just didn’t want to deal with Escort anymore. Didn’t care to wait for another fix that has a high probability of just breaking something else. Just an endless cycle with them. Over the last year I went through four M360’s and two M360c’s, all 6 units either had major issues, lockup’s, inconsistent Ka range, and very strange K band behavior. Whether it was stationary or moving k, detections were just strangely presented in most cases. Was it great filtering? Crappy range? A combination of the two? I don’t know! And we’ll never know because Escort doesn’t communicate or troubleshoot with their customers at all. And now Ka ghosting...that they I’m sure knew about prior to releasing 1.8. They just let you spend big bucks on their products simply to be beta testers for their crappy firmware. Well not on my dime anymore.

At this point if I really want to run arrows I will always have my V1 on deck to fill that need. And my Max2 works great and will always stay on double deck. But as my daily detector I need to run the R3 here in NH. The reliable and consistent K and Ka reactivity is simply the best IMO.

To those sticking with Escort, all I can say is good luck with the experiments they throw at you. At least it looks like they are starting to try and listen to their customers and take their products a “little” more seriously. I really do hope they get their crap together soon for you all and also hope the new app launches successfully.

Hope you enjoy your R3. I bought and then sold mine after a few months. I live in a very congested metro area which may have played a part in the incessant Ka band alerts. I'm guessing maybe a couple hundred. And I saw not one LEO. I tried two of them and then fiddled with settings and sensitivity levels and never felt comfortable. And ultimately I began ignoring the R3 which is not a good thing. I do believe it is possible for a detector to be too sensitive as I believe that was the case in my experience.

I’ve had very good luck with my first batch R3, almost 30k miles with it now, so I know I’ll be happy with my new matte black I just grabbed. And yes heavily populated areas the R may not be the best fit so that’s understandable. But here in the sticks you really need the sensitivity. I can deal with a few extra BSMs that comes along with it as long as I don’t get a ticket!

Well, it looks like maybe I should be happy that I haven't updated my 360. I've been very busy lately, and so have only kind of skimmed the last couple of weeks of posts. Is the ghosting and increased BSM alerts only happening to the 360c, or is it also affecting regular Max 360 owners?

I have a 79 Max 360. No ghosting. More K band is getting through, though. Even picked up a Walgreens further away than I normally do.

How bad is the BSM getting through?

Instead of a few, if that, in a 20 minute commute, I’m getting at least 2-3x more K alerts. I’m getting more where I can’t identify the source. No out of the ordinary full blast K. Quick and gone. I’m not counting the Hondas I’ve been seeing. Didn’t filter those well before this.

Just experiencing a noisier ride. I’m willing to admit this could be from normal variations in which BSM sources happen to be on the road at the time. All I can say is that I’m definitely seeing an uptick in K.

To kill the lockup, they hedged clipped Escort magic sauce on BSM? Ran my 360c a bit more. Hours of BSM quiet magic is toast. Not updating the rest. These people are like tech company TAC L3 engineers, fix one thing break two others. Microsoft and to some degree Cisco engineers do this many times during a given year. Sucks.

I ran my 360 back from Boston tonight - hit 'bumpa to bumpa' traffic and NOT one single BSM alert. I only had one very week K alert at 24.199 on an open stretch so if it did get through it was from the opposite side of the road.

I'm just not seeing this uptick of BSM alerts with my 360.

Yeah, my Max360 has been the same, mostly quiet to BSM's on this and the previous firmware with no noticeable difference. From what I'm following in the thread it seems most complaints are with the Max360c?

Hope it is a 360c thing. Based on your comments, I would update my 360. But, no way to roll back? Still tempted to update.
