See what I mean? I haven't said much about the frequency issue because of the other problems. I'm going to show all of this when I do my testing this weekend and hit them with all of this at one time with video evidence!
Looking forward to see your results. I hope they listen. I still believe those issues can be worked out thru firmware, but if support does not knowledge them, then I am really loosing faith in this unit...

I would love for whomever to send me videos of these issues.

I always still @PointerCone line but video is very helpful, and will maybe get us better results.

@Kennyc56 I still need that video of the K band running but the @KA band unable to get thru.

@Bossdad71,
I have already posted any videos of my encounters that have some identifiable source. The last case we are discussing here this morning - I can upload a video, but without a potential identifiable source and my detector not in view (an voice alerts off), I am not sure if it would be helpful.

It's coming buddy! I'm trying to figure out a way to get all of this on video at one test session! Jane had the flu all last weekend and during the week so I haven't had a chance yet. I will do it this weekend.

If i gave you my email would you send anything you think might be helpful that way?

I'm not smart enough to get them off here and to whistler, and i'm not so sure that's not against the rules, I would need to ask the powers above. i'll pm you my email, or kenny has it

Sure. I can also upload here (not post link to youtube), so in order to view such, you just download and play. This will probably be easier or quicker. I know some e-mail providers block attachments above certain size, and videos tend to be big files...

Here's the I/O encounter I had yesterday:
Not sure what to make out of it, there was really no range at all. Was it forward facing (target the oncoming/opposite direction traffic)? Was the LEO very selective? Was my detector blind?
That detection was TERRIBLE. Not for the range, I suspect it was FF and definitely I/O. But, the sense of urgency in that detection at that range was awful! You couldn't have been 500 feet from him. My R would have screamed at me, jumped off the windshield and punched me in face! That thing was like, um excuse me, when you get a second, the gentlemen in the police car is checking your speed, so be careful. As I have mentioned before I think that is my single biggest beef with the new CR's.

With what I see here on Long Island NY, none of these issues (quirks?) are deal killers for me. Almost exclusively Ka. I haven't seen K here for a year. I can run K on the highest filter. I do think the increased range on these CR's and the customizable filtering puts them in competition with more expensive units. Other manufacturers have some quirks also at nearly 2X the price.

You're right @Driver66 , my R1 would have done the same thing, From A MILE AWAY! I get hit with I/O all the time around here. These Whistlers do a killer job against it with a useable ramp. That was a brief forward facing weak @ss alert he got. If you use a Whistler for awhile you come to love it! My R1's on the other hand peg the meter and scream bloody murder at any I/O they see within a mile from the source! Don't get me wrong, these 2 R1's are the baddest @ss detectors I've ever seen but I think you face C/O most of the time. The R1's ramp is killer for that. The Whistler is actually faster to the punch than my R1 is, so it eats I/O and Q/T alive! Since it's so fast, it's good to also have a ramp that you can tell how far away it is by it's intensity and not get punched in the mouth by a blip that's 2 miles away! Like I said, I have to get the alert as fast as possible around here, but it's also good to have an accurate ramp for a shot that's 2 miles away still! Trust me on this, these new Whistlers will also punch you in the mouth on a point blank I/O shot!

True about the ramp up of Whistlers. My XTR538, when exposed to a legit Ka and even on a stationary K sign has a decent ramp up but I have only seen it on close C/O. I like this older rd but I wish it had better Ka range. For my local hiway psl+5 use it's a fun unit. For serious CM, I just feel better with my R3 and to a lesser degree, my Redline Ex. They aren't kidding on the R1/R3 series when they say 'extreme' range!

Yes, it would.
That alert was ridiculously weak. Like $39 wally world, blister pack Whistler weak. Lol.
I do, C/O 24/7, like maaaaybe 5% I/O.
I believe you, You live in I/O hell!
I do trust you, but it's so hard to believe by watching these videos.
Somebody needs to lend me one of those. I must see at a minimum 3 LEO's a day, some days as many as 10 with hot guns. Granted, none or very little will be I/O, but I will quadruple the amount of footage on here in the first 72 hours! Lol. Then we'll at least get a more varied look at different scenarios, and ramp.

These Whistlers would drive you batty! You are used to our R's! They are like a scalpel! We need to get all of the Ka and K band confusion and stuff worked out before you try a CR97! You would throw it out the window! There is no detector ever made that can compete with a R1 IMHO! The CR97 is also a monster on "real" alerts of all types, but it is not in the same world as the R3 on filtering! I'm very hardcore, so I can overlook these things, but they need to get fixed! I keep trying every way to set it up with the filters and TFSR, and FDSR and everything else, but it's a challenge! Everytime I get it to be Quiet, it kills range and speed! I keep looking for a sweet spot, but still haven't found it yet! As you know, I can throw my R1 up on the windshield seg it to 5&8, and even run it with NO filters and be good to go!

Thanks for the input, @Driver66. That's why I like to post these videos, so I get feedback from the experts here. I was not impressed with the alert at all.

i got some answers today @Kennyc56 @Marty K stay tuned
@Bossdad71, I have been tuned since I purchased this detector...
What's the news??

As you all know, I've posted my fair share of videos on the CR's as well. The one I did on Q/T with the different filters and TFSR on and off proves how fast it is! I didn't put it on video, but after I tested the CR97 that day, I put my R1 through the ringer also! The CR97 was noticeably Quicker against Q/T. I also got C/O 35.5 from over 4 miles with my 95, that is also on video. The first time I drove with the 95 I got a killer off axis 34.7 forward facing alert where the trooper was shooting uphill with nothing to reflect back off of. This is also on video. On that alert, my R1 would not have done any better. I only wish these troopers would come out of hiding so I can get some more videos! I know these Whistlers need some work, but damn they're not that bad! I face the worst state troopers in the country and I feel totally protected with my CR95 and CR97, and as you know I also own the best radar detectors ever made! After all, that alert @Marty K got could have really come from anywhere, we are all just guessing that it came from that cop. My 95 and 97 scream bloody murder at any I/O shot, I can promise you that! If you really want to go crazy, try running a Redline or older V1 with K band turned on for a couple of days! I can't use either one of them unless I pair them up with my R1 and turn K band off!

I'm not going to add any more comments regarding this situation, as I believe I have said all I am aware of and experienced with the CR97. I just do not want to repeat the same stuff, whether positive or negative. All I care is if it can be better tuned by the vendor. @Bossdad71 mentioned earlier that he got some info. Do you know anything in this regard?
