Ok I'll try my best but remember this is a speed sign 34.7 it is course limited. But for some reason I got bad results when I ran the course 3 times. It's the course that I did with my R1 before

ok, now are you comparing the r1 to the cr97 or the dfr7? There is no way the cr97 will beat the r1, not much will imo. But it should be close to the dfr7

When @VariableWave and I tested his DFR9 I think it was, against my CR95 they were pretty much dead even, but my R1 is a different story! My CR97 is in the same league with it on straight line radar of all kinds, but on a weak signal or off axis, the R1 wins by a ton everytime. On Q/T shots however, the 97 and 95 have no equal except of course my V1 with Ka guard off, but even then it's a very tight race!

I was comparing to Dfr7, the Dfr7 was about .2-.3 miles behind the R1 against this speed sign. But when I ran it against the Cr97 it alerted .5-.6 mile behind the Dfr7

I agree Mike! My CR97 and 95 are both all over a DRF7, I'll guarantee it! Some of those signs are tricky anyway! If I was you @radarguy1986, I would do a factory reset and see how it works against some more "real" police radar. My CR97 gets on my nerves because of the K and Ka confusion, but it never lacks for range or speed I can promise you that! If all else fails you are more than welcome to send your CR97 to me and I will test the hell out of it and post the results on the forum! I don't have access to a DFR7, but if you do you can send it too and I will test them head to head!

Hi, everyone.
It's all been said already (many times over) about the goods and the bads of the CR97/95. Indeed, the K as Ka is the biggest deal-breaker, and maybe better BSM filtering.
Regardless, I keep hope it will be improved. Just wanted to post some encounters, and change the air a little bit.

1. Whistler CR97 - Ka 35.5 - I/O or C/O?
Not sure if this was I/O or C/O, but the position of the LEO (perpendicular to traffic) was rather unusual. That may explain the weak signal even as I passed right in front. I don't know how much of an angle he had, even if the antenna was adjusted, but definitely did not look like he had a hand-held.

2. Whistler CR97 - Ka 34.7 as 34.9 - I/O
I am pretty sure this was I/O, given the sudden ramp up, and also the fact that the signal was weak when I was at point blank and no vehicles between me and the LEO. The alert was still present due to my settings (Ka Max ID, which holds alert longer - perhaps after the radar has stopped transmitting). I know for a fact that the detector was interfered with, because the alert was displayed as 34.9 from the very beginning (which means there was a BSM source present). This also may explain any delayed reaction to the real source.

3. Whistler CR97 - Ka 35.5 C/O - 1 mile
I was surprised of the signal strength in this encounter. It was just over a mile, in town. I am not talking about extreme range or anything impressive, but I still think it held up pretty good. Maybe the LEO had the radar at max power/sensitivity/range?

Neither I would say is I/O shots... The LEO more than likely had either a front or rear ant. on and doing paperwork or a personal call. As for the Second, you crested a hill and he was more than likely shooting your direction (Forward) and then changed to rear as the signal was high and then lowered as you approached him, and I would say he changed over to Rear at that point of the lower signal/alert audio urgency.

I'd say the first alert was not I/O. He was just sitting there with his unit blasting away! It could have been either his front or rear ant. I think the second encounter WAS I/O, but not at you. I think he was shooting I/O at some traffic ahead of you. I'm still trying to figure out the signal strength in that last one!
