I know we already have a thread for this so we can leave most of the discussion over there, but i think it would be interesting to start a poll just to see what you V1 guys think. Will you be switching over to the R7 if it turns out to be a success?

EDIT: Added 4th option to poll

I'm voting no until I see a remote display method. If they come out with a remote display or app interface, maybe.

I'm a hobbiest so I'll get the R7 to try it out. If I start liking it's performance the V1 might get shelved but I won't commit to it.

Sounds like a lot of the V1 users are ditching the idea of an R7 because of this.

The owners of V1’s may not be completely honest on this poll...

Or like most of us, have a collection? Remember, the V1 is tried and true. And even older than me? Ouch....either way, gotta first see and run the R7....

No, unless the R7 integrates with an App, then maybe

I will be getting a R7. Not planning on getting rid of my V1 because I will use it as a upgrade if Valentine releases a proper update. Keep hoping Valentine has something big up their selves but been 2 years with no updates so wondering what this company is doing if anything. If the R7 is solid and does all that is promised then it is what I have been looking for.

No. No plans on going out and getting a R7 right away. I don't see anything today that would make me switch. The R7 is only announced, not being beta tested (that we know of, I think that starts next month), a projected release date, and no test results. I really like the apps with the V1.

So, No. Especially not in the next 30 Days. :)

It has been under wraps also so we can't be sure it hasn't been beta tested. From what I have heard it has been in development for a few years also. That being said you take a risk with any new product.

I will buy an R7, but I am NOT giving up the V1 which is my wife’s favorite RD.

I will eventually get an R7 - probably for the wife. She doesn't like messing with a phone app. I like all the additional data the apps provide, so I will likely stick with the V1.

Yeah, Nate, you're missing the critical 4th poll choice: "Will you be keeping your V1 and adding the R7 to your fleet of detectors?"

Would you care to expand on your statement? From what I've seen V1-istas are the most realistic about their choice.

I won't be an unpaid product developer for anyone. This probably saved me a lot of grief with the R series.

I don't think the r series has been that buggy. Escort on the other hand has lock up issues... V1 is solid I will give it that. Was always the leader in detection also too bad they haven't updated it in so long. I wouldn't even consider the r7 if valentine was more on top of things.

Yup, most V1 owners are very loyal and wouldn't switch regardless of any new RD from anyone...

I personally am offended by your baseless supposition. And wow now two baseless statements in a single thread.

I’m not running out and buying a R7 until it has firmware or an App that allows for Quiet Ride based off both exceeding a specifically set base speed (I like 35 MPH) plus being able to access a database of PSL so if I am not 10 MPH over the PSL, the RD stays Quiet.

The V1 with the JBV1 App gives me these features. To my knowledge the R7 currently doesn’t allow this which means all those useless 2 mile away Ka Police Radar Alerts would cause me to slow down over something that isn’t even remotely a threat due to over sensitivity and no App.

Honestly I would change to the R7 in a heartbeat if it had an open API, BT connectivity, and JBV1!
