Why is there no external display on the netradar? Just wondering if this is some kind of design decision, or mainly to lower the price. I know there is a Bluetooth module, but I HATE using my phone for any kind of radar function, it's just very unsafe and also annoying especially when I want Waze in the foreground and I'm using carplay. Plus I don't want to deal with any Bluetooth delays, or issues like my car's music not coming back on after an alert. So what's the deal with no display? I can't see a simple led display adding much cost to the system.

We are waiting for Escort GPS Patents to expire before we put out an optional display... Before the end of the year we will have something.. You will have to stay tuned.

Awesome, TY for the heads up. Do you know if I'll be able to addon the display to the current Netradar units, or do we have to wait until the new ones are released to get the display? If I can add on the display later what might the ballpark price be?

We have always built components and options to work with all existing users hardware. I can't discuss this further at this time.

A dedicated display is awesome, (removable even better) I cant wait to see what ALP comes up with! For now, with a BT , dedicated android running waze up top while ALP Connect in the background is a TON better than on the iPhone. I love that if my phone dies, the HIFI kicks in and boots up keeping me protected, If I have to park in an unknown area or valet, I take the phone.

Great News!
And good on you, BRD, for sharing the display development in process.
Looking forward to seeing the new offering!

In the meantime, like many others, one might consider using an old iPhone or android phone with something like a ProClip custom dash mount. May not be ideal for all users; however, with the proliferation of old phones about our house, I can enjoy the repurposing and PARTIALLY avoid the shaming from my wife for not having sold these things on eBay. That well cared for iPhone 7S that has been through sea, lake, pond, mangrove, and snow bank proudly represents the ALP/NRDSP system - it’s a sentimental transitional possession thing =

When exactly do those patents expire and what features will the display have for people who use ALPs for LIDAR defense only?

I must be the one guy who likes the BT. I use my phone for music (via BT) so the NetRadar warnings come through the cars soind system. Its great since I drive a convertible. I would likely miss warnings without the volume and the fact that it mutes the music. Plus, when I take the phone there is nothing for some taker to want to steal.

This will be a game changer. I’ve wanted to replace my STiR Plus with another remote unit but went with the R3 instead because I was not happy with the Net Radar display. Awesome news! Thanks!

I'm guessing false alerts. That's why I ditched mine.

Sent from my CLT-L04 using Tapatalk

Yeah, like a lot of other members with radar detectors that don't have the ability to filter out the non-LEO K-band freqs from BSM, etc., I really have to be cautious when I receive a K-band alert. You never know when the K-band alert will be the real deal......from an LEO !

I had the STiR Plus installed in 2 cars and the V1 installed on the rear deck of one cars (STiR gave me great Ka range and V1 gave me arrows). When I gave one car to my son, I gave him the STiR Plus and was going to buy a new one for the new to me car. However, things change and the number of K band falses and the vision of a fully integrated system (Radenso or Net Radar) made me rethink my system, especially since my new car did not have the same cabin set up flexibility. My driving area is a bit challenging, a lot of mountains, trees, and curves in the road make extreme Ka sensitivity is a must. I’ve come really close to getting a Net Radar but decided I could not live with the current display and or cell phone set up.

Are use the app also and it’s pretty good. But let’s face it there’s room for tons of improvement. The alerts become painfully here overtime because they don’t ramp up properly and that chicks voice is annoying after a while. Also after you shut your jammers down from the laser hit when using the app you no longer can tell if you’re being targeted. The app won’t tell you if you are being hit unless it’s in defense move (blue). I’ve heard that’s because the app works over Bluetooth and because your phone isn’t plugged directly into the ALP CPU. Hopefully a dedicated screen wall plug directly into the CPU and that should change everything. If it doesn’t plug in directly then hopefully the engineers figure out a way to at least make a Bluetooth operated dedicated screen operate the same way hi-fi does. Another advantage of a separate screen is hopefully it will use the hi-fi speaker.

Yes this screen “could” be a complete game changer and take a platform that is already 100% proven to work and just make it 100 times more user-friendly and 100% more functional.

I would think the biggest reason is DSP/R3/Mac360ci just have way better detection at better distances then the STiR and V1. In my own testing it’s not even close. I was seriously considering getting the Escort Mac 360ci because I don’t like the ALP app. @STS134 got one for that reason I believe and he loves it. However I will definitely wait for the DSP screen now.

Hello folks.... you see what is going on over in a Uniden related to raw data within platform and control/display with a app? NR uses same basics as the R series? I seems to remember hearing this. Check out the link. Interesting or not?

www.rdforum.org: Uniden R1/R3 Data Output

Here is what gives me minor frustration. Original outsourced OEM designers have all the raw data at great accuracy within the platform. The “company” that packages this makes internal decisions not to have enhanced version of the product (higher cost additional model if needed) available to customers. In the link a San Francisco Silicon Valley smart guy, no RD engineering experience, with alligator clips and his ecosystem off the self tech, in a day shows us what is really going on. And says the enhancements are very doable for a final product. What are these “manufacturers” thinking? Small ball, IMO.

The biggest issue I have, when running the APP I like the sound to come from the Car radio as well. especially playing Music app... the Issue, when on a call with my Ear piece (poor car Speaker) the alerts also go into the Ear piece hurting my ear and the conversation. Full alert into the ear, well might say, I can't hear ya now.

I can see where that would be an aggravation. T 70mph with the top down, I don't even try to talk on the phone. People who know me well enough to have the number know to just send a text first.

You're not the only one. My car's audio system works perfectly with the BT app. Would I prefer a discreet dedicated display? Yes.
