What BSM Pro M does NOT filter ?

Hi everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my ancient RD. My main issue seems to be the BSM falses. I read everywhere that the Pro M would be my best bet for the moment - so I'm looking at it.

I know that it is hard to quantify "quiet", so my question is what Pro M does NOT filter(yet) in your experience ? This will give me much better idea how good it will be in my use case.

I'm in Chicago area and I'm occasionally using RD on the interstate - locally and on long road trips. I have black 8500 x50 (M4) with TFS. Usually there is moderate to heavy traffic on the highway ( not stop-and-go heavy). This detector is very good at mapping which vehicles are using K-band BSM :D , but I need something that is serving better its intended purpose.

I rarely get any k band detection now, unless it is an automatic door opener.

Will you be running MRCT or MRCD? I get quite a bit of falses from MRCT

Edit: rarely, not really

I've found the same, with the right settings. And, like @omgboost , if I'm running with MRCD/MRCT enabled, I do get a few falses. However, of all the detectors I own, the Pro-M is the one most able to avoid alerting to BSM... and even some K-band door openers yet still able to give me good to great detection of legitimate radar.

I live where there is mrcd so I have it on. I can say with my settings. I rarely get any bsm falses. I know other users have reported bsm falses but I don’t experience them. I get more ka falsing (which is low, ka filter off) from other detectors more. I pick up k band speeds signs and doors openers. (Not bad when I drive on the main roads)

Besides autodoor openers and speed signs, or MRCD/MRCT if it's enabled, IIRC the main thing I see falses too are some GM vehicles. I ran the RC M last night for a good 1.5 - 2 hours or so and didn't get a single BSM false. It was amazing.

Mazda CX-5. Each and every time.
Oh yeah, you're right. I'm going through my video clips and have one of the CX-5 triggering the Pro M, but a Chevy Tahoe being filtered out.

Cadillac SUVs, Buick Enclaves, Chevy Impalas. It must be a certain package GM offers because it doesn't happen to all of them.

I've seen posts about falsing against GMs but I've never gotten any. I'm running with MRCD and reduced K in the city though.

You runnin’ with Ka narrow ?

Are these falses the cobra 33.8s ? Or around 34.3ish?

Ka is narrow as I have 34.3 off. Yup. Falses are from other detectors. 33.8 and 35.5. Nothing serious. I can tell they are falses from leaky detectors from the alert level and ramp up. It’s really nothing, definitely not complaining. Just noting

The main vehicle which we currently have problems with are 2018+ Mazda CX5. Some GM vehicles will also give low level falses (usually signal strength 1-3) but not as severe as Mazda.

Hope this helps,

Thanks

Makes me wonder if I'm the only one getting Subaru falses. Lol

MRCD or K? I can 100% confirm no K band false to Subaru but it's possible a MRCD false might exist.

MRCD.

Running MR Narrow/Filter High.

It's not like the Mazdas. I'll be 1-2 car lengths away and then it'll alert for a few seconds. Then off. Then on.. etc.
