Hello everyone!
I'm new to RDF as a member but have been reading threads from this forum for awhile now but decided today to sign up!

I have a uniden r3 radar detector (just heard about the r7 from vortex's IG) and run it with Waze screen mirrored to my BMW idrive display.

My car is a 2017 BMW m2 in Alpine white with a manual transmission (hence the name f87 which was the m2's chassis code).

I'm pleased to be a part of the forum and look forward to the discussion.

The R3 is still an excellent choice.

Haha thanks for the warm welcome guys I appreciate it!

But I do live in Canada and the part where red flex and mrcd is a threat so that's not going to be fun. The funny thing is everytime I use my detector there are no cops on the road, and the days I switch cars and leave it at home cops with their radar guns out are everywhere.

Yeah I love reading it once in awhile. But right now I'm more focused on getting my m2 prepped before I head back into the counter measure world, especially after hearing what happened to uniden. Not sure if I should scrap the detector while it still holds resale value, or if I should keep it.

Hi F87 & welcome!

BMW M2, R3 & Waze, you are ready to roll!

Uniden is a rock solid company & R3 is a top tier detector. I wouldn't second guess getting one.

This is absolutely normal ( no cops on the road) as any new detector user is automatically flagged in the Canadian enforcement system for a few weeks of non-engagement to give you the idea that, a) you are safe to go way past PSL or, b) you will begin to think the detector is not working. Oh, by any chance Edmonton?

IMHO, Uniden will not be affected, it is a non-issue. No worries, keep the R3 and enjoy one of the best detectors ever.

I'm just making a remark that maybe the radar detector is like a cop repellent for me as a joke.

Yeah I heard the new uniden update from vortex, from what I thought the one guy was also responsible for engineering hence my first comment. So not sure why I got a dislike because everything I said is true based on the information given at the time. Of course the detector will lose resale overtime, and at the time of uncertainty it was a plausible question to ask since it could mean no new updates are coming to the r3, especially since the r7 is coming so will they keep dumping R&D money into software updates?

Still I was considering selling my R3 (yes I know it is an incredible detector) but it lacks MRCD detection which is incredibly prevalent in my area, and the R7 solves this issue. But I may be looking at some TMG's for now since cops seem to use LIDAR more and more now vs. Ka.

No Sir i'm not in Edmonton but I do drive there alot, so having MRCD detection that can sweep below 24.050 all the way to 23.950 would be nice.

Its a disagree from someone, not a dislike. :)
Yeah I'm pretty new to this method of ratings as every forum is different, but in a bmw forum if you accumulate enough "dislikes" you get a temporary ban or permanent ban. So based on subjectivity and the rapid rates of bans the mods just disabled dislikes. I'm not sure how it works here.

Oh don't worry, definitely NOTHING like that here. You are free to speak your mind and give whatever opinion you have as long as you aren't attacking anyone personally.

This like/dislike/reactions system is a temporary side effect from a forum update. It will be done differently so really don't pay too much attention to it as of right now :)

ok sounds good lol, I've seen guys on bmw forums with a full red bar because they are constantly attacking others or speaking too much garbage. So I don't want to be a full red bar guy lol.

Yes, it wasn't even a "dislike", It was a disagree to the quote of yours below.
