Hi from Calgary,

I found this forum over Xmas when I decided to get back into the Radar Detector game.

I bought a V1 in the early 90's and was using it until about 5 years ago. It needed an update which I never got around to doing or spending on so it was put aside. I saw a sale on boxing day and decided to jump back into the market with an R3. I forgot how much fun it is to have a radar detector and am liking the newer technology although I miss the arrows of the V1.

Welcome to RDF! @mikeg, there is an RD for every user, location and driving type! Many here love the long range of the R3, but the lastest update of the V1 has plenty of users here as well! Look at the most polular apps available for the V1 and their developers are regulars here on RDF!

The R3 and the V1 with an app are very good choices.

Welcome to the Forum @mikeg . You likely cheer for the Flames and I can't blame you as our other Provincial team sucks bad!

Fire away with questions as a lot of people here have some good knowledge and recommendations.

Wow, thanks for all the warm welcomes folks!

Had my first real hit today on KA band. Must have been Instant On and was a long way down the road when the R3 heard it and alerted for a split second. Slowed down for so long I had dismissed it as gone then came up on someone pulled over on the side of the road... A bit to learn on using this guy without the arrows. Getting more used to it each day though. Nice detector. May look at the R7 eventually but not until it is proven and I have some soak time with this one first...

@KrazyK I'm actually from Saskatchewan and played in Regina myself for quite a bit in the late 70's /early 80's. My two teams are the NY Islanders (4 cups when I was young) and the Oilers who dethroned the Isles. Both of these teams are a bit tough to cheer for lately so I pretend to cheer on the flames from time to time. Don't tell anyone:D

Sounds like the R3 is working well for you! Great detector! I also am hoping that the R7 is going to be just as good X2.
Ah man, don't ever pretend to cheer for a team you don't love/relate to! Adopt the S. Hilltops if nothing else. They're a respectable team. Meantime your secret is safe with me. :drinking:
