Thanks for the replies to my comment before. Sorry to side-track the conversation. Now back to our regularly scheduled program... R7!

Seriously, thanks again. I'll be doing a lot of learning, and hopefully, contributing. Maybe even upgrade membership while I'm at it.

Great site. Thanks.

Sorry if this was answered. I couldn't find it. Do we know if this will work for the R7 or is there a different option to look at? With the non existent information on Uniden's website I have not been able to find an answer.
Thanks!
Yes, it should work.

R7 uses same power as the R Series so there is no issue with those basic hard wire kits.

I searched, but did not find an answer to my question:

Will Uniden SMART hardwire kit with mute button work with R7 ?
My understanding from Vortex is that yes it will work, including the mute and the LED. I asked Vortex about that compatibility because I have the Safe n Sound hardwire kit in my car and he said it would work just fine. Same wiring scheme on the R7 as the R1/3

Thanks! Just ordered the cord and Tom is kind enough to ship it with my R7 when the time comes!
@BestRadarDetectors Can you explain more what you mean by basic hard wire kits? Is there a different version that has some advanced features to look at?

I'll be able to 100% confirm if it works when I get my R7, I rely on the specific Uniden hardwire kit as my primary, because I wanted to retain a functional and stealthy mute button

So I was trying to look this up this morning but I’m on my phone in the search engine on Tapatalk isn’t working for me. So forgive me if this topic has been covered recently and I have managed to miss it. The r7 appears to be the perfect radar detector for me. My father is still using the escort Ix and every time I talk to him on the phone I can hear him driving and the detector is screaming in the background. I feel so bad that he is still putting up with that but his reasoning is that he doesn’t want to store his own lockouts he wants the detector to do it automatically. So if uniden would implement something similar to escorts auto learn I could upgrade him and he would be happy. I know the hangup for a long time was the patents that Escort holds but I was just curious if anything had changed on this front or if anyone knows what the future might hold?

Auto lockout patent expires in June, I’m guessing but we should see something from Uniden around that time.
Thanks for the info on the patent expiration!

This was spoken about prior to the release of the R7. So I'm guessing you didn't do your research. But yeah, auto lock outs are coming,

Hello everyone, I new to this forum and to radar detector. I'm from NYC and wanted to know if you would recommend this radar for a first timer?
