BestBuy will take an R3 without receipt in exchange for full store credit. If the R7 is to be sold at BestBuy as well, you can then use the $400 store credit to purchase the R7 for only $200 more. (Secret exchange program)
However, how long after the R7 release until it is sold at BestBuy? Maybe a good way to get an idea is to find out how long it took BestBuy to start selling the R3 after it was first released.
Hey guys. Long time lurker here.

Another good option is buying the R3 from Walmart directly. 90 day return policy on some electronics (radar detectors included). I’m doing exactly this and my return date is good till April 22.

WOW !!

All I was saying is LEOs peruse this PUBLIC FORUM as well as State Officials, Politicians, etc etc etc
Not only are you creating Exhibit A for a future Trial Accident etc, of yourself, but you are setting an environment of Unlawful Conduct for our RDF Family.

We RDF rs never speed, we just discuss what if scenarios as if it was Real Encounters.

We RDFORUM peeps do not Condone speeding or breaking the Law.

Oh for crying out loud. What i wrote would have no bearing on someone else’s trial case, even if taken out of context, and would never be admissible. And wtf you are saying about setting an environment about unlawful conduct for rdforum is about as bad an over reach as can be had and is really just embarrassing. You are looking for something to complain about partner, and your looking way too deeply. Again, i never intended to say that anyone here speeds or breaks the law, i was talking about my mindset in liking to play with rd’s, not anyone else’s.

Thought I would chime in, I returned my R3 today after running it for about three weeks and am back to my Max 360 (for now) for several reasons:

1. I love the increased range of the R3, when I ran it besides the 360 it was definitely better especially with off axis signals but the BSM falses! I was flashing back to my 9500ix.
2. When running off of mirror tap power (my detectors are on a Blendmount and I don't use their factory power cables) the R3 has alternator whine which I could mostly tune out but it annoyed me.
3. I missed arrows more than I though I would.
4. The R7 was announced.

I'm fully on board with the R7, maybe even on day one, assuming issues 1 and 2 are addressed so I look forward to the likes of Vortex testing it soon.

You are hearing the alternator whine threw the R3 ? I'm totally lost on this one, or the R3 is causing the whine threw your car radio >

Aaah, okay. Thank you. For some reason the word "sleeve" threw me and I didn't understand what he meant. Thanks again!
I thought it was a full arm R7 tattoo to help identify the fan(antic)s who buy in the first release. My bad.

:) Agreed. Not sure why it wasn't referred to as a "carry case" -- that seems more accurate to me. I'm just going to wallow in my own stupidity now...

Weird right? It was coming from the R3 for sure, my car's radio is factory so it doesn't have any wiring or ground issues. I ran the R3 for a few days on the OEM smart cord and it was fine but on the Mirrortap cord it whined during acceleration.

Who pooped in your cheerios this morning? Lol
Law enforcement could care less about this forum though, unless your admitting to a murder or something serious.

What type of vehicle do you have? I haven’t noticed any such issues with my R1 being powered through an Escort Smartcord Live direct wired into my keyed cigarette lighter circuit.

It's a Genesis Coupe with a Bluelink/Homelink mirror, and I'm using an official Blendmount mirrortap cable with the inline fuse. Could be a funky unit I had, no idea but I have no way to test it with another Uniden, my last two Escorts have had zero issues with that power cord.

Maybe try a new powered source through the fuse box.
Yeah I'm not going to do that, the appeal of the mirrortap was not having to run wires behind the dash, A pillar and headliner. I'm going to assume it was an issue with that unit unless other R users can tell me they had the same issue and hope the R7 I eventually get will be OK.

That whine is almost certainly a ground issue.

I'm aware of what causes it but it's not my car to blame, I've even improved all of the major ground points on the body by removing the paint under the ground strap contacts and adding dialectic grease. It's a moot point anyway since I've already returned it, I just hope it was a fluke and I won't see the issue again with another Uniden detector.

This looks awesome. I've been out of the countermeasure loop for awhile and lost some interest overall, but this has my attention. I may finally move away from my 9500ci and V1 combo for this detector. It would probably be nice to simplify down to one detector especially for more range in both directions.

I may miss JBV1 though. The way it displays info is great.

Today is the first I'm hearing of this, but I'm definitely interested. I'm assuming to get the full performance of the rear facing horn, it would need to have clear line of sight through the back window of the vehicle, correct? I like to mount my detector right along the headliner behind the tint strip to keep it as hidden as possible. For those of you who have used a Max 360 or V1, have you had to mount it more centered on the windshield?
I keep my v1 to the side of the rear view mirror, if you got tint on the windshield make sure its carbon material or else itll affect performance

On another note, I was focused on the main display arrows, and sort of missed that the all thread display will also have arrows with directions...I know Jonnyboys app does this, but this a cool feature for an RD without an app...
