Mike will still have those people who buy V1's, based on word of mouth of other uninformed people, or people who upgrade their current V1 because they love opening an app to have a decent radar detector.
I am confident they will drastically improve the BSM filtering, and then this unit will be almost perfect. Open Api would be nice but I think that is a tougher corporate decision for Uniden to open up access.
Some are too close that its risky to try to ignore. GM is probably the biggest culprit. I don't think anyone has found a way to ignore all GM systems without too much of a risk. Some of the earlier systems have been easy but many of the latest ones are more difficult.
***I know Uniden is arranging for the engineers to come out to the US next year to really spend a lot of time around these systems to figure something out.***
Ok, I don’t know why you’d need one with you in the car, but I guess take it with you? MicroUSB is still by far the most common connection out there, from Bluetooth earbuds to wireless chargers to portable battery packs, etc. I’m sure you have at least a few lying around, and worst case scenario you can pick one up for cheap at most gas stations in case you need it for some reason.
No one is disparaging the V1. It's a healthy comparison. Now , if you believe the current V1 will perform better than an R1/3, then I suggest you research the various tests performed the past 2 years. The R1/3 have been the best performing WS mounts ever tested, bar none. Fact is, V1 was a great unit now well past its prime. The R7 will be evaluated & tested like the rest. With vim and vigor.
