My wife recently got her dream car, a high performance SUV, and of course it does 80 without breaking a sweat, so I'm trying to teach her the finer points of stretching the posted limit safely. Since she doesn't yet have an RD in the vehicle, the first thing I taught her is to use Waze, and to NEVER be a Rabbit.
So anyway, this past Saturday, we were in my car ( with V1 and Waze running ) going NB on I-87 and we got behind a Mini-Van with Canadian plates tooling along between 80-84. Just past the SP barracks, which located in the rest area in Clifton Park, there is a long straight downhill stretch with a turnaround, that the LEO use a lot for speed enforcement. Before we get to the top, the V1 starts chirping, and as we crest the rise to start downhill, goes steady, now I'm still behind the van, and I can see the SB lanes off to the left, and there is a LEO with a car pulled over, so I'm thinking that is the source of the signal, and continue on down the hill. Suddenly my wife says "hey, there's a trooper ahead as well", and sure enough, there is one shooting radar at the NB traffic, so I begin to slow and move over behind the mini-van. The rabbit sees the trooper a few seconds later, and does the same in front of me. Once past him, I look in the mirror and see the LEO pull out, and coming up to get the mini-van. My wife turns to me and says "Now I see exactly what you mean about not being the Rabbit!", priceless!

I 87 at Clifton Park is a regular shooting gallery (and ticket writing mill)

A great teachable situation for your wife, regarding "see the rabbit, don't be the rabbit !!!"
Also, I'll bet you're glad she has really great eyesight to spot that trooper "shooting" in your direction!!!
Well done !!!

the only issue is when you drive to fast and you have to be the rabbit

So true !!! Also, when there are no other cars around and you are really haulin'......it makes for a really dry mouth, hoping you don't get that instantaneous full alert from an I/O "shot" !!! :omg: uh oh !!! :police3:

I definitely was. And I'd really have looked like an arse if there wasn't a rabbit in front of us, especially after saying " oh, that's just the trooper in the southbound lane, leaving his radar on, while he is sitting there writing a ticket". Lol!
