@DrHow thank you for the test; i think the question was on 33.8 seg 2... normally this would be on.
Yea, get that. I was asked if segmentation worked in general. I did the test with what I had (not seg 2 unfortunately).

I agree with assessment above. Person likely turned off seg 2 by mistake?

what's weird is in the intructions for the GT360 it shows seg 2 off, but that frequency is around the right area for 33.8

When I did turn off Ka and went to segmentation back then, or don’t remember seg 2 off when Ka was on. When I turned off Ka, and chose my segments, I of course picked seg two long with the rest.

Do you know if the GT360 is still being made? We really like it. There is something different about how it is tweaked verses the other 360 series. Or we happened to get a nice hot and silent variant of the 360 with this GT we have. And some of my users say they like the display (including arrow presentation) and case design better than other detectors and the ER360 products. Who knew? :)

Yes. The GT-360 is a really top notch unit.. Only problem is Escort hasn't addressed the freeze issue that can happen (vary rarely happens) concerning a an autolocked signal. I've owned mine for approx 6mos or so... give or take and it's only happened to me twice for whatever reason in the city at a locked fixed location signal for some reason. Some people report never experiencing any freezes/lockups though.

Physical build quality is really nice and the looks are elegant.. Pics do no justice and I understand why some say they think it's ugly, but I've only gotten complements on the looks for those who ride w/ me and see it on the lower windshield.. The "copper" color aka amber setting for the screen is a perfect match for the instrumentation and i-drive screen in my Bimmer. Range meets or exceeds that of a V1 too. The size/footprint of it is good too. It's similar in size to the Max 360c and noticeably smaller than the original Max 360.

BSM filtering is exceptional. I hardly ever get a false even in heaving traffic.. and when the very rare false does pop up, It's an easily identifiable false due to the frequency displayed. Back to the possible lockups though, I think a firmware update will come along at some point to address and fix it.

This is a detector that you take very seriously whenever it alerts... and you get arrows that ARE accurate too... and you get all this for $399. You get a LOT of features that price.

I had a bought a Uniden R3 a short time before I purchased my GT-360 and don't get me wrong the R3 is a phenomenal detector that offers excellent performance and features, but I found it much better suited for interstate or rural highway road trips/commutes... and for, ya know, areas with extremely challenging terrain. Some areas require every bit of sensitivity to provide every split second of advanced warning. This is the one main scenario that the R3 shines IMO.

Would I run my GT-360 before considering my Uniden R in the majority of situations? Around the city, YES... But in extreme terrain, every second of advanced warning is needed in those circumstances. The GT-360 is more than adequate in the majority of encounters though IMO. There's just so much you get for the same price point as an R3 that's much more user friendly in the GT-360. You can get the best of both worlds if you separate them on your windshield w/ enough space running them at the same time. The really do not SEEM to interfere w/ one another. Do this at you own risk though!

I never though I'd be one of the people on here to point this out, but I'm being COMPLETELY honest. When they finally release the firmware fix for possible lockups (remember many people report not having any lockups), it'd be really hard to be able to knock it especially at the price point. You get one hell of a list of features for $399! Arrows, GPS autolocking of fixed falses, and the ability to run it w/ the LIVE app (revamped version coming REAL SOON) to name a few.

TL;DR - I REALLY like my GT-360.

@Layne thank you for sharing your experience. Escort did release an update that is suppose to help with the lock-up issues. I updated my 360 and 360c last night. However, I'm not sure how or if a person can do the same update with the gt360, great question.

I was hoping someone had access to a 33.8 gun that would be willing to turn off and on seg 2 to see if it would alert.

So far, this last update for my unit does not seem to be available. I have not had observed lockup, not in huge hurry. But, want the unit to update database I paid for, and FW update.

Let us know if you are successful in updating it.

Do you sell the GT360?

Thanks for the detailed report!

I tend to have a different view on which device to use in uber rural, or semi busy but fast moving rural areas. R3 situational awareness is just not good enough. Sure, great range on 34.7. However, too many times I need arrows. To figure out where the LEO is. Too many times I see in this state and all adjacent states cops using moving radar in same direction mode. Coming up from behind. Or shooting from behind after they go by (unmarked or st night). R3 May have the range, but almost impossible to be sure of their tactics. Or any new unmarked car/trucks they are using (figure that out when they go by and/or go by and shoot from rear). And, too many local and county LEO lurking on interstate, toll, or limited access multi lane highways that are running K band. The BSM mess on the R3, plus the lack of situational awareness is big problem. Of course, not being anti Uniden, A.I. a, in the wait list for the R7. Maybe that might fix things.

Also, while traveling outside city, I find Escort Live too valuable as a adjunct support for LEO awareness. Way too many times, EL helps figure out for me what the strategy of LEO up the road. Speed traps in action with laser, or VASCAR, or whatever Radar. With the radar units themselves showing actual radar or laser emissions on the map, that helps over Waze. Yes, I do run Waze too when serious moving. EL will perform better than WAZE at times. I also like the quick discrete adjustments of RD through the app. When someone tailing me as a rabbit, or LEO is floating around at night, when I hit the border of Ohio and turn in X band. Easy to make on the fly volume, display, and functional adjustments without having to looks up and fool with series of buttons while moving (I don’t do that). Even with few of my vehicles having semi self driving, not the thing to do. With EL, it is easy. Plus, EL is set for major upgrade in less than month. So far, demo looks good. I also like to contribute (with EL and Waze). Feel good knowing when the GT360 (or spans 360 or Max series being used) is sending live detailed reports to others.

The R7 might change all the above. If it does so well, might have to lose the connectivity method through EL as a compromise.

In rural highway, I think the off axis setting is about right on the GT360. Does well enough for town, and two lane curvy roads. And very well for long sweeping curves of limited access multi lane highways. Yet, don’t get the odd door opener falses at the local T/A, Flying J, small town Casey’s, or rural industrial park (all not in auto lockout since newly passed). R3 seems to find everyone of those if K band is not neutered in the settings.

If it was important enough to spend close to $15k, and possible burn that investment if they come out with new tech not upgradable, I would buy a few RC-M with ALP package and call for most my vehicles, call it a day. Not there, yet of forever. In mean time fuss with compromises. :)

Yep. Same issue. I need to call them again. They claimed it will update database, they showed the purchase for that attached to the GT360. No avail. Another self inflicted wound by ER for people to pile on. Is your company a dealer?

Going offline for hour or so. Need to run errand before the rain turns to ice storm.

I want to like the GT-360, but can’t get over the looks and that orange color. And wasn’t Vortex’s review somewhat negative about it?

I cant speak for votex but I took away from his review it wasn't his number one pick, but like he always says, what's good for him might not be good for someone else.

Updated my GT360 yesterday, and so far so good. Hoping it fixes lockups for good. I've been checking RD shortly after starting with pocketradar, and that too is good thus far. Will really like this detector if problems solved. Great price, decent range, and few falses. Fingers crossed.

Used Detector Tools Pro from Escort's site. First updated Defender DB, then updated firmware. Thought about using the Update All option, but wasn't sure there was much of a difference.

FYI. Just in case you did not see yet, GT360 1.2 is out. Deals with database update, some other things, and the lockout “fix”. Lockout never been s issue for me. Vortex had link to the Bel site to get it.

I updated to 1.2 but the update DB button is grayed out before and after update so I hit it a second time with the ‘update all’ option.

I agree with you... initially. The video makes it look ugly and Vortex amplified that opinion. However, once on the windshield, it looks nice. And the Orange works, believe it or not. Plus the display works better than reported. Casual in car non RD wonk survey, those who ride with us, will say positive things about its style over any other device used. And it seems to pass the female appearance test in greater percentage of rider who like it, too over the other in the inventory noted below I have.

I was shocked how my view changed on this. At first I got it because of the price to try out ($269-299). Thanks for alert by RDF members giving their time to let us know, myself and others were able to buy off this pricing. Once In service, views on its look has changed.

Couldn't agree more. Assuming they got the lockup issues taken care of, it's a very nice RD. I daresay it actually looks handsome, better than yet another all plain black gadget. Has character, and like the copper accents which seem to be all the rage on cars lately (eg Range Rover Velar). Also like the default Copper LED color- best of the various options. All in all, unit blends really nicely with my white leather interior, and it's BSM algorithm is awesome.

My R3 still on 1.37 FW. Stayed away from 1.46 due to BSM and delay of reporting issues with TSF on. However 1.48 reports are good. I need to upgrade and use on the street for awhile. Plus it is immune and has supposed better support for MRCD/CT with 1.48

With that said.... I experienced a Unicorn Ka warning with the R3 in upper Nevada. 10+ mile alert. Jaw dropper. Took this as a travel device (360 series are big). I will take the Radenso Pro M or the R3 when traveling and in another car (or in this case transported the car out there wanted the R3 for Max Ka range out in the sparse traveled roads where we were). I am not sure any 360 platform would do as well.

However, the GT360 has given me 5+ miles of rolling and slight curve interstate I69 past Bloomington final 1/3 or so of trip to Evansville. The LEO was buried like a tick under a bridge behind yellow sand crash barriers. I was very pleased. Have that story floating around RDF someplace. The GT360 has given very good Ka and am reports overall.

And the so far amazing GT360 BSM filtering. I generally do not need immune. When I do travel to area with MRCT will use first Radenso Pro M, or Redline EX (not my favorite for sure). I need to use the R3 with 1.48 see how that does. I bet it will be fine and not have MRTC falsing that is like BSM fasling. The R3 has too many BSM falses for what I need the k band set up for the many k band LEO where I travel.

Plus arrows... which I prefer for situational awareness. Many cops where I go use same direction radar to come up from behind, also shoot from behind as going past, stick themselves in driveways, parking lots, whatever in town running radar handguns or turned on the mount dash radar. They can be hard to spot with all the other driver and traffic work load.

I like using the app. Personal preference. And, when not using the app, still have all the features and performance on its own.

360 series, and GT360 is bulkier. Not enough to be a detriment. I am also thinking of taking this along for a travel road trip with the Escort M1 cam attached to the mount. Because I am thinking having the arrows and dash cam portable with me will be good idea. Not ideal. The small size, good audio, 1080p, and same wiring as the GT (or other ER product) makes this a good combo when seeking a dash cam for safety. The Whistler RD with built in dash cam is smaller, but the reported performance has been so so at best.

So, as you can see I prefer the GT360 overall performance. Preference only. Both are amazing in their own ways.
