@BaileyAB this thread got off topic a lot so it was easy to miss... I was talking about potentially using a standalone ZR5 system to increase the amount of heads/coverage... If I do that I could add one of those heads to my existing MAX 360ci set up giving me 3 heads in the front, than run the stand alone ZR5 system with it's left over head and my 2 already mounted heads to have 3 in the rear... Furthermore I could purchase 2 more heads (ZR5 system only comes with 2) and run 4 heads in the front 4 in the rear... However I am pretty sure having 3 or 4 heads on one side doesn't provide me and difference in "coverage"...not 100% sure thus curious if anyone has tested 3 vs 4 heads....
Fair enough. In that case I believe you would have timing issues running two systems together. Yes, its from the same company, its the same model but it just takes for them to be slight off timing balance and gun would register it. I never tested this, its just my two cents, but I can see this happening.

If you decide to purchase ZR5 system and do this, I am really looking forward for results n potential error messages displayed on lidar guns.

Interesting, if one system was set only for the front and the other independent system for the rear, what type of timing issues might pop up? Chances of being shot front and than rear and not having slowed and killed the systems anyway seem pretty low...
I am definitely going to do this at some point as my wife has a Max 360CI on her C300 but I am looking at getting her into a mid to full size SUV in the next few months...

I got no reply to my question here, so I just mounted 4 ZE-5 sensors in the front grill of my Porsche. One under each HL and then two in the center perfectly spaced apart. So Im confident Im securely safe w/o worries as I cruise the
interstate I-85 here in Atl, GA. dual ZW in the rear.

Looks great. I could only tell where the two are on your grill in the center.

I'm very happy with the performance. I'm hoping one day Escort will come out with a 6 input bridge box so I can put 2 sensors on the rear. I've near seen the police shoot lidar in the rear where I live so, I'm in no rush.

Any chance you tested with just 3?

With my ZR5 I have one sensor centered in my rear license plate frame area just for Great Laser rear detection and a little coverage too. I would like to have 2 sensors in the rear of the vehicle but only one looks good ( so many vehicles on the road cannot support 2 sensors without the vehicle having a bad appearance) so currently with my vehicle I’m using 3 of the 5 ports and could use the 4 port for an additional sensor up front If DE is found to be in my area. (Full size Ford passenger car) Thanks for testing done by you with Z series.

How many devices does the ZW5 support now? 5? That’s awesome. Does the Escort system let you program and define which sensors are in the front zone vs. the rear zone, or does it treat all as if they’re only in a single zone? (Not sure that I’m using the right terminology).

Think @Stealthbull said “ZR5”? I perked up with your reference to 5 on a ZW5.

Ok, your set up sounds cool. How did you integrate the alerts? ZR5 (4) system have its own alert panel, and you are using ZW5 alerts through windshield ER radar detector with the Z setting turned on? ZW5 has to use a ER radar detector to alert.

Ah good catch. When I met with @Stealthbull he had ZW5. Maybe he got the ZR5 now.

When you met, did he hide his ER badge, and biz card? Did he look like a spy lurking here promoting ER products? :) Ha Ha. Stealth still gets hit up with that silliness.

If he did pull off 4-5 heads on a ZW5, cool!

I have the ZW5 on the (Explorer) (can only support 2 sensors) (ft only) and then on 2nd vehicle my Ford Taurus I
Opted to use the ZR5 (supports 5 sensors) currently using 3 ports and may use a 4th port later if DE shows up in our state. Now on the ZR5 system because it is a stand alone system, on the control unit under the dash, there are 5 very small switches that allow you to designate which sensors are going up front and which sensors are going to the rear, on the Taurus I set the ZR5 to 2 ft and 1 rear so that way when I receive a laser hit the control unit speaker says “Ft Laser shifting” and if a rear sensor receives a hit the control unit says” Rear Laser Shifting) at that point I then reduce speed, double tap mute button and control unit says “Recieve Only” then after 30 seconds the system automatically returns to And says “Shifting”
The ZW5 on the Explorer is different system , (the sensors are the same as the ZR5) but the ZW5 is wireless and only supports 2 Ft sensors and works only thru the Max360, 360C and I think the Redline EX.

Sorry for the confusion (2 vehicles 2 different systems)

Sorry for confusion on The ZR5 and ZW5, I have both systems on 2 different vehicles..the Explorer has the ZW5 ( supports only 2 Ft Sensors )
I kinda wish Escort would have named these products differently. Can be confusing. Also totally loved your business discussion in Feb. I can tell you are a marketing genius. Totally learned so much about the inner workings of business.

No I havent, I plan on testing 2 soon. I believe 3 would be a waste of time due to the positioning of the sensors.
Really? I was under the impression in a 3 head set up, 2 heads protect your car one detects the laser... in 4 heads 2 heads protect and 2 heads detect... I was hoping coverage from side to side would be the same on a 3 vs 4 head system... Maybe I misunderstand how it works?

Each head has a receiver and a transmitter side. I believe the bubble side that you can clearly see on the head/sensor is the receiver, when ever the receiver on either side of the vehicle detects any laser or laser scatter both heads then transmit their light source outward. ( DE operates a little differently so 3 heads up ft I hear is bare minimum to fully protect. But Escort says their 2 heads up ft on a small to medium vehicle is good against DE.
The protection coverage I’m told about equals the size of a hula hoop (square)
So on larger cars like the Taurus or your MB 3 sensors are better 4 may be overkill but if placement is tuff, it couldn’t hurt.

This is accurate for a standard gun...I don't think thats how those sensors work when dealing with a variable rate gun like a dragon... However this may be a topic best discussed in an elevated section @PY004 ???

It's already public knowledge and doesn't help cops. Not like they're going to come and tell you to install only 2 heads lol

Escort you need 3 only for Det defense. Other vpr guns are fine.
