Back in the 70s there was this news story about a family of six traveling cross country that were all killed when I sign like this fell on their car.
One evening on a drive to San Antonio to visit my grandparents while the family was all asleep in the car I confided to my dad anxiety about this problem. Being the scientist type, he took a long puff off his pipe and told me it was a small risk but so were many other small risks in life. Over the next hour he listed out all the situations that could result in sudden death, vehicular failures, live stock incursions, home accidents, choking on food, lightning strikes, then medical abnormalities that could kill you instantly. I stopped confiding in him about my anxieties after that.
