So what is going on with this? Does Escort Live! just not work at all any more? Is anyone using it with success? If so, with which model detector? I can't get any audio alert tones to work at all. I called Escort adn the guy pretty much said 'um, ya, that sucks, mine does that too.' Uh, what?
Due to all the issues and the fact that the mute button is so small - I dont use it the App very often now. I found the most useful part was actually muting the detector when you pressed anywhere on the screen.

I also noticed that the usage in my area seems to have gone down, there are less and less police marked or radar alerts on Live, so its just easier to run Waze.

I do run WAze, but I need the app for use on my motorcycle because the app is how I get audio alerts into my helmet (my phone is BT'd to my helmet audio). This worked great up until the "update" which completely ruined the app in pretty much every way. I called and begged for the old app and they wouldn't give it to me.

I am thinking the detectors may also sleep when EL live loses connection to the server. When I am in the mountains and lose cell service, I notice the sleeping the most. That is where I come across a lot of Ka speed signs I know are always on, so it may be a coincidence since they are a good test.

I had a weird experience with the GT 360 yesterday, the speed limit froze on the detector when I lost cell service, but the detector still alerted to the Ka signals from 3 signs, usually when EL cannot get a new speed limit I notice the unit freezing. The local road speed limit will not show until I get cell service on the phone or car.

This is a bit of a problem as the detector thought when I was going 50, it was under the limit showing as 65mph on the detector. I was actually over by 5 or 15 when I drove near the Ka signs and the detector just gave the double beep.

If EL loses connection to the server, it should just stop feeding the speed limit data to the detector.
Agree with this concern. Have wondered too whether EL connectivity issues or loss of GPS signal contributed to the reported two forms of lockups. I’m no programmer, but can envision a scenario where execution if code is dependent on feedback from EL and/or GPS to determine RD response and without that info, it hangs. That together with a heightened threshold if starting RD in an area with high levels of radar background seem like logical explanations for me. Hoping that's what they corrected in recent firmware update.

Just read this... You might be on to something, I had my Redline-O lock up using Live App and now that I think about it I did pass through an area with no cell service signal!

I may Be Wrong, been focused on watching for detector lockup’s but, the original app automatically uploaded KA & Laser to the cloud. This one seems to be manual only. If people are paying attention to driving - imagine that - Looking Down at the screen and pressing a button that sometimes vanishes too fast might not be very popular. Not to mention the app having the propensity to lock up and shut down.

Mine works. STiR+ and direct wire EL. I don’t get audio alerts for community stuff but I still get audio for signals I pick up. I’ve been able to use Escargot and the EL app.

It’s still a buggy device. Sometimes Bluetooth gets confused and the device has to be power cycled to be usable again.

I am not sure what is going on, but I am done using the GT 360/Max 360 and EL until they figure out the lock ups and do something about the issues with EL.

Not sure why they spent all the effort on a new app when it is less functional and may cause more issues than the prior app. Its been available for several months and you would have thought they would have corrected some of the issues that were brought up early on.

I don't know about the automatic uploads. I thought it still automatically uploaded laser and Ka - but not sure about that.

Laser is marked every day when I drive by this one cell tower (where the max series alerts to laser, but the Redline O and Ex do not) and I still see some Ka detected reports at the stalker speed signs once in a while, but that could be a few people who upload everything manually, must be the same people marking the LEOs on waze that are parked at the station.

About 1/3 of the alerts that i encounter as listed as {null} on EL, rather than K, Ka or Laser.

I think I'm going to buy an X80 (no GPS) and see if it's more reliable; call it an experiment. I also have a phone that I removed from service last year that still has the old app on it. I'm planning to try that too to compare reliability app v. app. EDIT: just remembered that the X80 has GPS too. Ugh. I really want this to work. So frustrating.

On a side note, is there a way for me to grab installation files off the old phone and force install on other phones? I will research this, but I figure maybe someone has done it already.

They have such a hard time with the app. Why not release the apk's as open source so anyone can develop an app for it? I bet someone would make an awesome one in short order, and if it worked well I'd pay $100 for it.

I use an X70 for travel that I used to use as my primary driver before the GT360. Believe it was similar to the x80 but needed a SmartCord for BT functionality. Don't recall it having GPS. Had the X70 connected via the SmartCord and I can connect EL to it without issue. Was extremely reliable, but the main issue I have is that it's super chatty- BSM's set it off left and right.

Oh and they dropped support for SmartRadar (still usefull in CA !) altogether. "Live" won't even see my SmartRadar to pair.
I'm now calling them "Leastcort". And why would I even think of buying another product from them.... only if I fell and hit my head really, really, REALLY hard.

Why am I being notified of something that happened 49 minutes ago? Is there a setting to adjust this time?

There used to be, but the ability to reduce the notifications life has been removed in the latest app. This is the single biggest reason I've stopped using it. I always had mine set to 30 min max and sometimes that was too much. I would have preferred the ability to drop it down to 15 mins. Longer than that and most threats are gone.

As discussed in PM, while your posts may be in good humour, repeated ridiculing of a manufacturer is not in good spirit.

Trolling. At every chance you love to pick at them. This setting can be turned off. It is used for out of state folks like me who like to see where have traps, even if rare. Many times the traditional perpendicular VASCAR lines are not always used, or are easy to miss. I like turning this feature on while I gather situational awareness in a new area. Then turn off once understand the routine. If active. People can report live. I do wish these notices were blue like the eventual crowd sourced “speed trap” where their cloud sees the trap over time from device radar reports or manual alert. Those that do come up like that, of desired, come on in blue. Only active alerts are red. The archive “air” reports that are like this color should be changed to blue. Red only for active alerts within time like the radar or manual alerts.

also, I have no issue with longer duration warnings of live reports. They change to yellow to designste older alerts. Again, when traveling around I get a idea of trends for wolf pack enforcement. Sure, if yellow, I know it is a history of radar that has not been re-reported in past few minutes. It is valuable because at any moment they might leave their donut dens and pop back out. Plus I see a trend for construction areas too.

This constant malice of forethought trolling in attempt to belittle ER has to stop. Your long tenure, and advanced status, does reflect on RDF community. The constant CNN/MSNBC like long term effort against ER needs to stop. Quit trying to crowd source in here hatred or bad vibes on ER. They can manage that themselves. Please?!
