Hello y'all,

Wifey got a speeding ticket in New Hyde rd yesterday.

She claims, obviously she wasn't speeding. I have to agree. Town's threshold is 30 (who drives that fast?) Anything above that would be a speeding conviction....lame.

So as usual, despite been a tough guy he "gave her a break" and wrote her a ticket.

45 on a 30 mile speed zone.

The curious part about this incident is that she can't recall seeing him using a LASER gun. She said he was standing outside his vehicle, bare hands almost looking like he was directing traffic but yet wrote down on the ticket box " arrest type " L - LASER.

Now do you guys think this is a CLASSIC case of he said she said in court? Or is it anything we could do in order to request proof a LASER gun was used?

Thanks

Right by the rail road where the bells and lights go on for the train to pass.
She's saying he walked out of his car and waited for her to come in. I'm feeling he was using a gun but not sure whether they would be using a LASER gun on freaking Garden City tho...

Thats an impossible place to catch anyone there. If going northbound (which I assume it is), you have 2 roads converging into each other. One side has a stop sign though. I can't see anyway possible for the LEO to catch anyone there. I got there frequently and thats the first time I've heard of this happening. I've been driving in that area for over 20+ years and never seen a LEO using speed enforcement tactics there. I'll keep an eye out when I go there again. What time was this?

Also, you have to do 30 there. I got caught doing 52 in a 30 on Stewart and had to plea it down. They are strict in that area. They need money for all the rich people who live in that area.

Yes I'm thinking the same spot where the roads converge.
This happened Friday the 4th. Now any idea on how I am going to be able to contest this citation ?

It's Nassau County and what I've read it's easy to get it dismissed or to a parking ticket with a lawyer.

Not with Garden City. Its their own police force.

You can plea with the DA who will be there. There will be a TON of people there. I had my plea cut down to 2 points and a $75 fine instead of 6 points and a $250 fine. That was moons ago.

Garden City makes their money from all the speeders. You can hire an attorney but thats about 500-1000 bucks. If its in your wallet, do it. If not good luck.

One thing, my friend was caught doing 85 in a 30. The cop wanted him to toss the keys out, etc. He was issued 5 tickets but luckily not taken to jail. He was lucky. The DA was this little old lady. She tossed every ticket out. I couldn't believe it. Then again, this was 20+ years ago

North Carolina stopped this local yokel nonsense by giving just about every dollar of the ticket to the state
So guess who's got their own mob in North Carolina? but city and county enforce actual laws instead of traffic laws

thanks

Request a supporting deposition, should be an option on the ticket.

What did you say which got then to let you go? I'd love a copy of that script.

So in some states, the locals will still do speed traps, but then if you show up, drop the speeding to non moving violations, which they get to keep! Keeps the locals just as active, but at least you get a break by no points.

That's interesting
It's not like that in NC
The grim reaper (the state) keeps everything
