Great job with the test and thank you for sharing your results!

Good job by the ZW5, especially considering you’ve got duals on a larger vehicle. I’ve seen pretty good results with this on the wired versions as well.

I was wondering the same thing, the controller has connection for two more heads, but I recall seeing something at one point that said right now they system is limited to two heads. as per usual there is limited technical info on their website. @Vortex might know if you can add more than two heads to the ZW5's
Yeah so you could actually hook up up to 4 heads and they will all work normally. The issue is that the system doesn’t have enough power to reliably operate all 4 heads plus the wireless controller as well. That’s why Escort says you should run only 2 heads max and has little rubber caps covering plugs 3 and 4.

Thats what I thought, I recalled there being an issue possibly a power issue that effectively limited it to two heads. I don't think I would want an unreliable 4 head system... that seems like a bad idea... wonder if it would be reliable with three? A triple would be helpful on larger vehicles.

Maybe I’ve missed the testing, but do triples or quads resolve the issues with DETC? This has been Escort’s answer but I would like to see testing confirm that before we accept and repeat this advice.

No such thing with the ZW5. Limited to two heads period, sadly.

So the results are in! I met up with @PY004 and @event horizons for a little mini shootout yesterday to test @Blong2506 's Escort ZW5 dual head setup which he was kind enough to send to me for testing, I had them installed on my car for the test. We also retested Event horizons ALP 3RX setup and I did one run against his DETC with ALP 3RX to see how I did against the beast.

So the ZW5's (install pictures above) did well especially considering the limitation of placement on my car, (it's 24 inches from the heads to the outer edge of the headlight). ALP was powered off for all runs. PY004 was the shooter, and he's a tough shooter!

The PHL PT was on the headlight, the DHL PT's were on the headlight and the very lower corner of the bumper. based on the way escort works against the DE the PT's on the DHL were expected to be worse than the PHL so results were as expected. Overall real world coverage seems pretty good.

The only thing I found a touch obnoxious (for testing anyway) was the laser alert latch time that the system has (I was paired with @drtoddw 's Redline EX) It holds the latch at max alert for several seconds past when you stop getting hit. If you JTK as you would when driving this isn't a issue of course. Overall I was pleased with the performance on these as well, should be reasonable for real world in all but heavy dragon infested areas.

PY004, if you have any comments from your position behind the gun please feel free to add them in.
Hi, I have a Max360c and am considering the ZW5 for my 2017 Honda Pilot. I apoligize if this isn't the thread to ask, but I wonder if the ZW5 would sufficiently give me some decent coverage. Also, can someone explain to me what the yellow numbers mean? 240, 646, and 642? Thank you

I think the coverage would be better on the Honda Pilot. I don’t think it’s quite as big as the Oddesy

The yellow numbers are how many feet away from the Dragon Eye compact that it was able to get a speed reading from the car.

That’s what we call a punch through. (PT). The distance the jammers did not prevent the Lidar gun from locking in a speed reading.

Looks like a solid option if you do not have to face any of the Dragon Eye Compact Lidar guns or need rear protection.

The DETC is probable the hardest gun to jam.

Which year on the Honda pilot? Some of the years have a larger front profile than others... It would likely so OK against everything other than dragoneye, though supposedly they have released a new head (rev2) that's supposed to help with DE PTs at closer distances don't know if it really does. Also note that the ZW5's are limited to two heads, so you can't add more if you need to.

Personally I'd still go ALP, but the ZW5's did hold up well against all but the DE in my test... The track record for updates is the only performance thing thats concerning if you don't face DE, that and I like knowing what gun I got hit with.

Just wondering where this info was posted? Would like to learn of the difference in the heads. I saw today on the ER forum they are working on a FW update to address DE PTs with a potential release of within a week. Also eventually having a 4 second auto kill option.

FINALLY...................Kind of funny it's taken so much prodding when it actually benefits them as well in the form of their "shifters" not being banned in more states. I hope they default it to "on" and put a blurb in their manual about how turning it off is not recommend except for testing.

Thank you Heywood and thebravo for your responses. I love the idea of the simple install on my 2017 Hondal Pilot......there is a ton of chrome on the front which scares me a little with only two sensors. I bought my wife a Mercedes AMG which is pretty quick. May get jammers on that one too. I live in WI and sometimes travel in Illinois where jammers are illegal. I'm not sure if WI and IL police use dragon eye lasers?

No Dragoneye yet in Wisconsin. the most difficult gun you might find around here in limited areas is a TruSpeed. You should be fine here with ALP, TMG and probably Escort too. The only reason I say probably is because I've never personally tested the Escorts. It's always best to test with the guns that you see in your area. In Wisconsin that would be LRB PL3 and TruSpeed. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm missing any.

Yep the ZW5's are fine against fixed rate and stalker xlr, against DE they work down to a few hundred feet, then they start punching through which more heads would help if the ZW5's could handle them

Hello everybody! Could we get a testing done with the ZW5 on a bridge? I’ve been curious if the angle changes anything?!

They have a pretty standard angle of transmit, +/- 12 degrees approximately I believe, so they will work ok as long as the shooter isn't extremely off axis. If you face a lot of close range overpass shots then the only thing wider is ALP with a TX head.

Once your unit alerts you, not only slow down, signal and change a lane. LEO will assume no reading came from the movement of the dragon eye and your vehicle.

Be nice if they worked with a max 2. My battery is under the back seat so still be a beast to install. So for front performance these seem to be as good as tmgs? Good on everything but close range dragon? Are these the same performance of zr5 just can't do the back and easier install?Just the fact that the back is naked and can't add that. Not sure how much they get for these, sure a lot. If just doing the front be cheaper and easier than the alp but would it be worth it for future poroofness, or if you take a road trip? Either way a lot of money, Id like the alps but dont know if i can drop 2k on them right now. This would be cheaper and easier to at least get something but is it worth it?

Per the manual, they are compatible with the Max/Max 2

Interesting. Haven't checked their site in a bit. When i got mine, the max 2 wasn't on the list. Just the ex, 360, and 360c. Idk if I'd trust updating my detector either if required. It works, id hate to update it and run into some shenanigans like the 360 lockups. I'll look into it thou
