Hi all.

Here's another 34.7 C/O (again, moving source, opposite direction):

This one was about 1.1 miles, and the LEO was not in sight at the time of initial detection (0:10). His/her white SUV can be seen at 0:40 (13:03:47 timestamp on screen) - closest vehicle to my left, behind the concrete barrier. I think this was my first good detection on highway, considering the uphill terrain...

That's more like it! Sooner or later, you're going to get a real killer 3 mile plus hit with that CR97! I have had several killer alerts with mine. The best ones always come the one time you left the dash cam in the house or not running for some reason!

Very true. I had my doubts for awhile now, but after this encounter I feel more comfortable with it. Plus, yesterday I drove a little over 100 miles, but I did not have a single encounter. A brief 34.7 alert, but LEO was nowhere in sight, and only 3 or 4 very brief Ka falses (one from semi truck). Overall, I like the fact that my detector was very quiet for the 75+ minutes driving (and that is with K filer 1 and Ka filter 0)...

Nice detection. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the input!

That is the kind of alerts I'd like to verify more often, so I start feeling more comfortable with my detector. The most important for me is enough warning on hills and around curves, as that is what I mostly have in my area.

I'm impressed with the sensitivity numbers on Ka with the CR97. TXCTG will def have to do a sensitivity test later this year.

Yea, but these new ones are stupid! The only thing I've ever seen that can compete with them is my 3.872 V1 with Ka guard off, X band off and pop on. As fast as my R1's and Redline are, my CR95 and CR97 are much faster! And I'm talking about with all filters off! They blister both K band and Ka band I/O and Q/T!

i called kenny today at work, whoops sorry @Kennyc56 and asked him if that was alerts was before the cop even crested the hill. He verified it was. with that information im really impressed.
You might have already said but for the old monkeys sake, would you mind telling me how you have the KA filters set? Have you put on the new FW? how is it doing as far as the K/KA switch back and forth

are stupid!
please refrain from these type of words. just because i rode the short bus, and i from time to time lick random windows for the flavor, does not mean i'm stupid thank you very much

Just remember Mike, ALWAYS make sure you strap your helmet down very tight before getting on that short @ss bus!!! You can't take anymore impacts to the head!

Sure, @Bossdad71.
I have K filter = 1, and Ka filter OFF(=0). TFSR is ON, FDSR is OFF. Yes, I have the 2.1A applied. Funny you asked, as I have noticed lately that I don't really get that hopping between K and Ka when there is a false alert (BSM/CAS or other detector). Instead, I get a brief Ka alert with no ID, and then it's all back to quiet.
On another note, I watched again @Kennyc56's video about TFSR ON/OFF test with K and Ka Q/T, and I am really tempted to turn TFSR OFF on my unit, just because of the slightly better sensitivity to Ka band (which I have almost 100% in my area). I really want to find out if I can get even better alerting on hilly/curvy terrain. The only concern I have is the K falses that will come with it.
As far as the video, I did watch it myself at least 10 times before I posted my description, as I wanted to be as objective as possible, and not posting what I wished to see. I really believe the LEO was not in sight, as him/her and the white pickup trick in front were on the left lane, and there was not a single vehicle on the left lane as far as I could see uphill at the time of the initial detection...

Agree.
At this point the only big thing to be improved on this Whistlers is the BSM filtering, and in particular their FDSR feature. I believe if that is handled in another way, not just by adding delay to alert times, then those detectors can still be that fast reacting, but also more quiet...

I I was wondering if you got to see that video before it got bumped to intermediate.I no longer run TFSR, I'll tell you that!

I watched it straight on youtube. I hope this is not a crime...

I will turn mine off as well, and will play with the K filter maybe 2 or 3, see how it goes on falses. As I have said before in my area I am yet to see real K source. At this point all I want is to get the best Ka performance.

Me too! For some reason, running TFSR seems to affect Ka band as well, although not a great deal. I've been playing with K filters also, leaving Ka filter off.

Just checked again Amazon and Radar Busters - the CR97 is out of stock on both places. Amazon does not have expected date of availability. I guess that says something about this detector...

Well,
I had a short drive to the big city this afternoon, and back. 30 miles altogether, mostly highway, in light to moderate traffic. I had TSFR OFF and boy, this CR97 was really noisy. I had literally K falses every single minute or even more frequent. I tried K filters 1, 2, and 3, but not much of a difference. In addition, I had several Ka falses (no ID). I understand that there are CITY modes, Auto Quiet, and Auto Filter modes while I was driving in the city to keep it as quiet as possible, but my goal was to test the sensitivity without TFSR enabled.
At the end (last 5-6 miles) I turned FDSr #### ON, and I think that was a compromise I can go with. I still got few falses, but it was much less annoying, as it only beeps twice, then goes quiet. K filter stayed at 3.
One good thing I confirmed was that I detected legit Ka 34.7 while alerting to false K (####, BSM/CAS of a vehicle around). The LEO was a little over 1 mile away, straight ahead (I could see the lights, as he/she got someone pulled over 2 traffic signals ahead). The cool thing was that I got the initial alert as I was exiting the ramp into the main street of out town, so this was pretty off-axis - maybe 75-80 degrees...
Anyhow, in the next few days I will try with that setup: TFSR OFF, FDSr ON, K filter 3, but will lower it to 2 and see how it goes...
