I recently bought an OnTrack IR InvisiPlate license plate cover from RadarBusters. Unfortunately, I discovered that when I mounted it on the back of my Lexus, the license plate frame presses the cover onto the raised letters and numbers, causing the rectangular laminate strip to delaminate and bubble. This creates diagonal lines across the plate, partially obscuring the plate info. The bubbles are particularly noticeable in sunlight. This is a recipe for a cop who sees the bubbling to issue a citation for obstruction. When I contacted RadarBusters, they sent me another cover which did the same thing. I then asked both OnTrack (the manufacturer) and RadarBusters for a refund, offering to send back what I considered a defective product. Both refused, so now I'm out $35. In a reply email, OnTrack called the bubbling "mapping" and wrote that it is "normal". Well, it defeats the purpose of a product that is advertised as invisible to be noticeable. I will post images of the cover on my car in the sun in the next few days.

Pictures will definitely help show the issue you are having. How long did you have the product before the issue came up?

When I first mounted it, I didn't realize the delamination was air bubbles, sort of long skinny lines about a quarter inch wide across the license plate. I thought it was water, since it had been raining. So I tried to flatten the bubbles with no success. It was mounted about a week or ten days. That was when I contacted RadarBusters and they sent a replacement. I noticed the delamination immediately when I mounted the second one.

I have thought of putting washers between the license plate frame and the cover to relieve the tension that curves the cover from top to bottom. But that may cause other problems like a vibrating plate because the frame would not press down on the bottom of the license plate. Basically, for my application, the product doesn't work. I'll post pictures tomorrow (Friday).

Don’t worry about a “vibrating plate” I think you’ll be fine. Did you buy it new? How long did you have it before you mounted it?

I bought it new from RadarBusters. I had the first one about a month before I mounted it. That could be one of the reasons I suppose they are burning me and not refunding. I'll post some pictures today. I have to mount it again to take the pictures.

OK, not sure what's going on. I already posted these images, but they disappeared. Here they are again. One is before I mounted the cover to show the delamination when the cover is slightly bent. The other two are mounted on my car.

Easy. Call your credit card company. Tell them product is not as described and is a scam product. They will deal with the charge back which is a headache. They deserve it.

Next time do your research and buy from a reputable seller.

Did he try to resolve it thru normal channels or was it a scam? Sounds like an addictive personality...

My mistake for waiting too long to mount it and discover the defect. That put me outside the window to request a refund. Readers of this thread can decide if RadarBusters and OnTrack are reputable sellers. You know the old saying. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I tried, but the manufacturer (OnTrack) went circles on me, admitting that the covers distort with what they call "mapping", but then claimed the pictures show "reflections" when I asked for a refund for a defective product. The dealer, RadarBusters, replied that I was outside the 30 day window for a refund. So no manufacturer or dealer support or warranty for the product. Buyer beware, right?

If you remember sir, you spoke to me. I sent you another one. and even after you stated in your email if you werent refunded you were going to blast radarbusters and ontracks name all over the internet, and I quote " I will spend my retired time devoted to ruining your reputation" I called to see if you wanted to try another one. You said no, you wanted your money back.

After 30 days no company would take a product back. Anyway, I think all the information should be shared, that's how rumors get started. @sschwar2 sir putting radarbusters in a group is unfair and not correct information. I have been answering the phones for three years, emails, and chats. Not one time have I ever mislead anyone about Roy, products, or anything else.

I can't change everything, that's above my paygrade, but I do my best to always give accurate information and take care of business. @cewens I called you from my cell. If you want to call and see if we can work out some kind of deal, i'm always around.

It sounds like you were more than reasonable with him.

Thanks for the tip! I just initiated a dispute with the dealer.
Yea how about call the people that sold it to you and try and work something out. Bossdad just offered to do that. Over 35 bucks I don't see reason in being like this.

I'm sorry, but your description of our communication with each other is inaccurate. But since you're here and now, can you please indicate if my concerns, shown in the pictures above in this thread, are inaccurate? Does the IR Invisi-Plate delaminate as shown in the pictures? If you agree the product does not work as advertised, why would you not refund? If you don't have the authority to do so, have whomever can refund address this issue. I see nothing unreasonable in what I have been trying to do for weeks now. All I get back is I can't refund. For a defective product. You have not addressed whether or not my claims are valid.

we can go back and forth about our recollections of the conversation. let me explain this again. 30 days sir you waited to contact us, then you had a conversation with ontrack, then if you would like me to post the email of your threat i can, i called you and offered another. you declined.
So, if you want to call, we will talk about the next step. this board is not where we need to do business. or, you can file your claim. I cant control that. i will pm you my number if you like.

No offense intended, but you have already stated several times that you don't have the authority to refund. I'm not seeing what good calling you will have. If we want to go down the 'offensive statements' road, I can quote OnTrack when he implied that I was lying about the cover delaminating, that the pictures show only "reflections", after admitting in a previous email that delamination does occur. I realize you may be an employee trying to do your job. It is too bad your boss will not refund for a defective product, and yes, I have seen companies refund long after 30 days for defects.

This has been resolved between he and I.

Can we lock this thread unless it needs to stay open @KASHER1979
@Bossdad71 , I REALLY HOPE that you did not refund out of your own pocket, or that OP took your money! If he did you should as least ask that he send you everything he received from you...

Obviously you are SMARTER than your employer, and I doubt he appreciates it....
