I was just about to purchase the R3 via another site for $399, luckily came here first to check for some installation info, when I saw your post. Just picked it up for $299 and free shipping... Thank you!
Let us know when you get it in. Great deal. I hope it's not a scam. Keep us posted.

Great find and price! If Uniden could get a FW update out that would do a better job of taming the BSM's I would have jumped on that deal!

I don’t know why people knock down the r3 about the bsm filtering. The R3 is a really good detector and having the gps on the detector gives you the option of low speed muting which helps with all city driving and traffic if set 55mph like I do. If a k band arises over the 55mph mark and does not ramp up i ignore it. I’m pretty sure Uniden will fix the bsm filtering “problem” soon as they have been good on listening to people.

X2....Quiet Ride is like Auto Mute except that Ka band alerts are not muted by Quiet Ride. I currently have Quiet Ride set to a VERY high speed.....when the R3 sounds the two beeps, I check the frequency and look around for BSM polluters. If there are no polluters and the signal starts ramping up, it's time to drop anchor. If there is a GM, Acura etc in close proximity and the frequency is 24.199, I ignore it.

Can't speak for everyone, but for myself my greatest need for CM's is on the freeway and not the city, so all those workarounds are nice but have limited use for myself, your mileage may vary. I am neither convinced Uniden will fix the problem soon (hope to be wrong) nor agree they are good listeners. Had they addressed what I thought was the #1 asked for improvement, better BSM filtering I would be in agreeance that they are good listeners.

I am beginning to think that you are right. It may be that the only way to fix the BSM problem will involve messing up the sensitivity that the R3 has. It may just be way that it is. It has gone an awful long time without an answer to the BSM problem so I am beginning to feel that it may not be fixable without crippling the RD. If so, I’m OK with that, the sensitivity is more important to me.

BSM falses are a tough problem to solve, but the Uniden's have a good amount of processing power under the hood (same DSP as the Stinger VIP). I think it's just a matter of time until they get the filters worked out.

I agree. I feel like other detectors are jumping ahead of the R series in terms of BSM filtering. We keep hearing it more and more now. Really hope Uniden is actually working on it.

I just wanted to provided update that the R3 came in this weekend as expected. Factory sealed and with all accessories. I installed it under my RVM using the BlendMount, and am happy with how it turned out. Now I'm just working on tweaking my settings and learning all the features.
