Thinking of making some changes to the NR DSP but we might have to cut back KA Range from existing 33.400 - 36.000 to 33.400 - 35.700 has anyone seen a need for anything higher than 35.700?

I've never seen anything above 35.61, and frankly HPD is almost always right on 35.5 99% of the time. That 35.61 was some whack local PD in the sticks.

Kent County Sheriff at ~35.810 about two years ago in Kent County Michigan; confirmed sighting I haven't seen since.

I have only seen it in the +/- 100 of 35.5.

Edit: I didn't see this was in the NetRadar specific subforum. With that said, I just wanted to clarify, I have only seen +/- 100 of 35.5 with V1, Redline, STi-R, and STi-R Plus.

NJ doesn’t have enough 35.5 to know.

@fishing66 might know. He has some out by him.

All I’ve ever seen was super tight to 35.5. Like 35.46x, 35.5x.

You sure it was that high... Specification is 35.5 +/- 100 but I have never seen anything +300 which would be far off of spec for those guns?

The doc is reliable
It probably was that high
But if challenged, a ticket wrote off that gun in court
I'd bet money the certs were out of date

Yeah, I was using a V1/YaV1 at the time, doubled back with my Redline/Escargot and got ~ the same frequency. It was an older sheriff vehicle. Since I've also seen confirmed K band 24.226, also on an older vehicle, I've come to the conclusion that locals don't get their guns calibrated often, if at all. Most 35.5 I see around me is almost exactly 35.5 in newer vehicles. I consider this a one-off. I don't even run with extra segments when driving around town so it isn't an over-riding concern of mine. Just wanted to throw that out there that it's possible.

All 35.5 I've ever seen has fallen right around there. Change those bands if it'll help us!!

Never, unless its a false. 35.500-35.650 is typical and even then 35.650 is a unicorn.

I have seen between 35.4 - 35.6.I'd be concerned if there were one's that drifted outside the range though.

But if challenged, a ticket wrote off that gun in court
I'd bet money the certs were out of date
When you see this (see image), wouldn't that past as long as the test Speed Fork/Tune displayed the correct Speed?

@BestRadarDetectors Is this for changes in firmware or for the next hardware iteration of NR DSP?

This would be a hardware limitation for a possible hardware change in the future. We are looking at different crystal options to expand some of the lower K band range but if we do that based on options available I would have to give up some of the higher KA Band range. Nothing is set but just thinking outside the box and evaluating my options for the future.

Thanks Tom. Always appreciated your openness and transparency.

Personally, I’d give up some 35.5 range for k band substitution.

I don’t see a lot of 35.5(and NJ doesn’t in general), especially near me. But I’ve had more close calls and “out of tune” k band than Ka.

I’d like to think others are having the same experience.

35.575 is the highest I've ever encountered (a standout), all others have always been much closer to ~35.500 - 35.520.
