Well today I have felt naked because I had to borrow someone's SUV and drive 2 hours round trip on 95 with no camera or CM besides Waze....

I missed my JBV1!

Headed to Daytona I passed two Florida highway patrolman shooting some type of LIDAR and no idea what it was...

When coming back from Daytona is where my frustration comes from and this little rant.....

A driver about three miles ahead of me kept posting false hidden police reports.... And each one I would remove. I removed 7 hidden police reports in about 15 minutes.

Then I notice another one on my screen right past an overpass. Being I had no CM, I was only PSL+7... I suspected it was my newfound best friend, but nope, Brevard County sheriff's office had 4 cars on the other side if that overpass. I wondered briefly if they were responsible for the ghost reports. Another big clue was I had to report 4 cars on the side of the road, all these fake police reports but nothing else was being reported....

But shortly after my brief encounter I had two more hidden police reports I had to remove. What a fun trip....

I know how the algorithm works very well and that user will never be able to post again, but I'm sure they'll just make another account.... Was just a frustrating trip.

Any better stories?

I did encounter something like this last time I was up there, only the last report was a lidar trap. Sometimes they will move if they get reported as they know lots of Waze users on the highway... That said some folks are dumb enough to report LEOs that are driving in traffic... Perhaps that's what you encountered. I feel ya when driving with out Cm's it's uncomfortable

Most likely an idiot reporting a moving LEO. I had this happen to me one day and finally caught up with a police vehicle driving on my side of the interstate.

You can spot fake reports by paying attention to the user name
Usually its just wazer to avoid detection
Because once you see a few false reports you ignore the user name but a recent firmware update may of eliminated names on reports I need to triple check

For me, All initial reports will say WAZER, unless there user has at some point agreed to terms and conditions, then can show name. We can thank EU GPDR that. Map chats will show users name.
And actually, that could be because of the release candidate I am currently testing, sometimes I need to ask friends here what their version from the play store does as I get stuck in the waze beta world on the developer server versus the US server.

Seems like you know how Waze works but I will mention that even if you remove it on your end and it goes away, it may still appear other users. I think it depends on your ranking.
You are absolutely correct. Works for reporting and removing, ranking and status within Waze fall into the algorithm.

Currently at my status with Waze, developer status is the only thing higher than me. I can watch on my wife's phone that anything that I post or delete is instantaneous.

And completely agree with @OBeerWANKenobi, possibly moving LEO, but most of them were reported as hidden, and none are the cars on the side of the road were reported.

I was just venting... Was happy to be back in my own car driving home!

There's always some idiot trying to game the system. I had a police report pop up in front of me and they couldn't have been 1-2 minutes ahead of me. Not there. How hard is it just to report as accurately as possible?

Once you get your shield, top 10% in your state, you start seeing reports made by Waze babies, assuming you are at least at that level to see completely false reports, just Mark to remove. Beauty of CSA, garbage in, garbage out. Waze has come a very long way in the past decade.
@BlueV1 Don't you miss the original Waze voice :)

I think a lot of people use the waze reports differently. For example, I myself will only ever report stationary LEOs.

I do think there is value in having some report over no report at all, as there may be a slight chance that it saves someone by marking an LEO who's moving -- but I choose not to do it as part of my overall Waze strategy. I don't report moving LEOs as I believe that the reports are cancelled out by other users faster, thus affecting my waze report credibility; I don't want that to happen as I want people to take my reports seriously when I make them. If an LEO is moving and the report is present for 30 minutes, you've most likely got 29 of those 30 minutes the report *may* be active, which the users coming will see the report but not see any LEO -- and cancel it out. Therefore, I choose to only report stationary police that are camped looking for prey or stopped actively feasting on prey. I know not all will agree with me, and I'm okay with that. I personally am trying to maintain a higher percentage of confirmable reports that I make -- so that when I do make a report, it sticks until the 30 minute expiration.

If people don't agree, that's okay. Beggars can't be choosers. I'm the one who's a hobbyist and spent money on my countermeasures. I do give back -- I make reports, unlike a large portion of Waze users who run the app and do not give feedback. What am I basing that on? My weekly waze summaries; Per-road-report made there is the number of people "Helped" and the number of "Thanks" received. Helped means they were shown the report. Thanks, means they pressed the thumbs up for whatever reason. (Maybe to dismiss the alert, to genuinely say thank you, to confirm the report, or accidently in an attempt to skip to the next Britney Spears song on their playlist). In my experience I see a pretty low percentage of "Thanks" for reports I make. Sometimes 70+ people helped and 0 thanks ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . They can take my reports or leave them... but this is how and why I choose to report the way I do. The way I see it they're getting something for nothing. I can't change their behavior, but I can control mine. I report only stationary LEOs, hunting or feasting. Thank you all and good night. sdrawkcaB for President 2024.... oh wait... wrong finishing line. :D
