Well this is the reason why I have been out of the laser jamming fun for 2 1/2 months. As some of you know in September I traded in my C300 for a C450. I just had to have the TwinTurbo V6 engine because I know how safe I am with all this countermeasure stuff. LOL. Well in the first three days of owning the car the computer went nuts and I brought it back to the dealership and they’ve had it ever since. Turned out there was a leak in the air-conditioning system that went down into the floor boards wear a very sensitive wiring harness is located and the water permanently damaged it. The water destroyed a junction area basically taking out the entire harness system throughout the entire car. So they had to replace it and of course this is not a stock item with Mercedes-Benz so they had to order it from Germany. Of course they didn’t have it either so Germany had to make it. My dealership just got it yesterday and is working on the repairs now. So I am hoping I can get my car back for Christmas and drop it off at the installers so I can have my dash cam, ALP’s and DSP’s installed. I’m also going to have the rims and chrome grill painted black. Thank God all of this is under warranty but here are some pictures.

I was worried about a goji berry I had dropped underneath the seat. I think they got it. :D

It’s a certified preowned. There’s really no way around this. Had it been a brand new car they absolutely would’ve given me a new one.

Oh I figured Brett. And there's always ways around things. This would be one of those things if I were you. I would raise holy hell for something like this. And I'm never like "that".

But for quite a substantial purchase and to have to go under the knife after 3 days of ownership. You cant tell me there were signs of this before they sold you this car.

Actually my friend there wasn’t. This purchase was arranged well in advance by my service advisor from a much older lady that babied it during her lease. This car is in perfect shape. The leak probably did happen over the course of a month or so because that’s typically how long it takes to damage the wiring. So long as the repair is done properly and they put everything back together right I don’t have a problem with it. Car will be under warranty for the next five years and as many miles as I can put on it. I’m not sure what more you would want. It has been an inconvenience but during this time they gave me a car worth almost twice as much as mine to drive a E400. It’s sweet. These people are very cool and will always take care of me. I am not the least bit worried about it. :)

In a way, that is a huge oversight in the design. They need a moisture alarm for that area!

I'm probably going to trade the wife's C300 in 2019. She got rear ended and had about 15k worth of damage. I'm afraid of gremlins showing up if I keep it with all the electrical stuff in the rear. Maybe she needs the bigger engine...... :D

Sounds like a similar problem that another member had with his Benz and a water leak that occurred, really hosed that harness.

Holy cow that looks terrible. Hope it all gets put back together for you soon. Guess you can see some good spots for power taps and hiding cpu’s and components....

I’ve had so many of my cars torn down to this. It’s only scary if you have to drive it to work Monday.

It is an oversight. If you do a Google search all kinds of these cars are having this problem not necessarily leaking from the same place but damaging the wiring harness. Every car has flaws. They’ll take care of me. A month from now everything will be done and I’ll have my jammers and dash cam back. I’ll be happy. :)

I know right. Lol. I thought all you guys would get a kick out of that. I don’t know if any of you seen what they do to cars that are getting fixed from an accident but sometimes it’s very similar. They tear it apart.
    --- Double Post Merged, Dec 7, 2018 at 4:11 AM ---
Or if it was me that had to put it back together. That would be very scary. :)

That's one hell of a design flaw if a little water can so easily get into a place and cause such havoc. I would have expected more from Teutonic engineering.

There'd probably be some leftover parts if I tackled that job.
