Right now I'm good with this. I couldnt wouldnt be able to afford the competition. This was offered as an alternative that works. Though the recent testing showed that TMG needs work on certain guns I feel certain that this will be accomplished (lol I hope anyway). I consider my install a "permanent" one and dont really want to swap out heads, but if it's necessary I'll do it when I have the funds to do so. So lets get to business and get the problems solved for everyone involved. When this is accomplished everyone concerned will be happy.

This thread leaves me wondering whether this could be a business model for other niche industries.

Sent From My Mobile Device

It has been in use for decades, long before TMG came along (here is hoping TMG will be another long running success story). I have been part of three major niche products that started out of either Users Groups/Forums or from a raw Beta idea in a guys garage. One is now huge having started as a MP3 streaming hardware company and is now one of the major players in Internet digital video streaming.

Thats right. The digital thermostat was born from some engineers on lunch break over a period of time. Mercury was so deadly and not very accurate at all. They literally drew it up on the lunch table over a period of time.

I think your efforts are laudable. Everyone must understand that it will never be possible to guarantee 100% protection. With all the best CM's, if you drive fast enough, eventually LEO will get you. This is just an effort to mitigate the risks as much as practical with the bounds of reason.
Hear hear, well said. This is just like there is no single perfect RD that is best for everybody. ALL Jammers on the market are just an added edge in the fight against getting a ticket (and just like RDs, some are WAAAY better at what they are attempting to do then others), not a guarantee against getting a ticket!

No guarantees in life! If there was it wouldn't be life! Run a RD, Waze and actual Laser CMs and some common sense and it helps quiet a bit! I'm new to TMG like most of us but yeah the price point and community involvement is HUGE! I rather pay under $1k and have actual conversations with the developers and maybe get a ticket then pay $3k with NO communication and maybe a ticket...

If under 1k and developer convo is all you want then look at ALP at least it's has gone through 4 years of what TMG for the past 7 months it's going through and ALP has been proven whilst TMG is yet to be seen...so far..so so.

I own both and truth to be told if I had the xtra $200 I would have gone Alp. I cheaped out and am the current beta test user with future to be seen.

Sorry I am not much for sugar coating I say what I see and experience, that's all.

People are worried when something they engage in involves their money and safety from LEOs.

Plenty of people are not worried because they do not have a tmg system. If you decided to save some money and buy tmg over something more expensive then I believe you too would be worried over how the system does or does not perform since you want the product you spent your hard earned money on to protect you from tickets as it was said to.

Why? Do competitors give you "discounts" on new features and functionality they come out with? BluTooth,GPS, Tx Heads? Did you get big discounts when they came out with those modules/features?
Actually yes. I definitely know that @BestRadarDetectors gave discounts on the NRDSP to RDFers when they were first introduced, and he still offers a trade in upgrade from the original NR to the NR DSP. He offers upgrade pricing on ALP HW 1 to HW 2 CPU's and has also done so. I know that he also did it for some other components that would not work with newer hardware.

There's a difference between his meaning of beta-tester and the actual people that tested prior to release.

It's good for all to keep in mind that there was a lot of, "Now, I want it now!" speak before the release. I suspect the TMG vendors have been surprised by some of the early complaining.

Part of that may be my fault from an earlier thread. I'd suggested that early electronics adopters become "2nd tier beta testers". It wasn't meant as a dig at TMG as much as it was to suggest that all electronics have bugs that will have to be worked out. No amount of engineering, QC, true beta testing, or otherwise will uncover the actual ways an end user will use and/or abuse a device.

IIRC, many complained that escort used RDF users who bought one of their RD's early on as beta testers too... was it the redline EX? There was complaining there too...

I think I get it now.

Not to put words in his mouth, but he “feels” like he’s a beta tester just driving around or what he’s read. Not actually gone out and did testing himself.

Yes it was the R-Ex, but I don’t think if any of the members here were knowingly involved with that one prior to public release.

Sometimes I think we’re all beta testers when ever a new FW gets released.

This is a beta test of firmware and hardware. I mean allready there is talk of new heads after all the data points gathered . I am all for inovation but this shows that after the product has been on the market for less than 2 months, new tech is required to combat the threats.

Look at it this way, how often are you buying phones and how much do they cost? The tech is constantly evolving and these are billion dollar companies that are still releasing products with bugs that slip through the cracks.

I understand the frustration but we've come to accept it in the smartphone/tablet/computer industry. If you are buying the newest Pixel on release day, you should expect to be finding bugs in your new phone. Furthermore, there is an entire industry of tech reviewers/developers/etc that make a full time living off of finding and reporting these issues. In my opinion it's what make open source, and, in this case, crowd sourced products so great.

As a kid playing Pitfall on my Atari I never dreamed I could be talking with the engineers, VPs, or CEOs about what I'd like to see in their next product or even what they could do to better my current experience. Honestly, I didn't have the time as I was too busy blowing out the cartridges.

This unit has already been tested by a professional testing team and passed. And this is the only unit out the box, when initially released, took down the top dogs with just 2 heads and a little diode lol. That's a darn smart unit. The engineers can update the software for self recording and automaticall y upload it to your phone and send it to them with gps coordinates.

A refreshing bit of sanity...

We all want to improve our chances out there. It shouldn't be red vs. blue here. We already have a common enemy!

Furthermore, if the community doesn't appreciate the efforts of testers, it might get to the point where no-one bothers to test. :(
I HAVE TO BEGRUDGINGLY AGREE HERE as I
FEEL I WAS A TESTER DETRACTOR IMHO ... sigh

My only real issue was the ABSOLUTES of COMPLETE DECIMATION of a Product thru Harsh and Brutal statements. I AM GUILTY AS CHARGED

UNFORTUNATELY I BLAMED THE TESTORS hence
Lessening the chances of Testors "wanting to stick their necks out and test ...
... sigh.

I apologize to @PY004 and @Andrew21 gor yhe accusation. When I am wrong I am the FIRST one to admit it.

Sorry guys ... and Thanks soooooo much for the testing !!! TMG will be a stellar Alternative so we all have more competition !!! Because of you guys. !!!

As to @BestRadarDetectors I have no beef with you either. I looooove my Alps !!! Sure they get issues ((ALL electronics do !!) but you fix them quickly as does TMG. I truly thought it was 30mph but if its only 20 then i can stomach that ... maybe.
Want the TX on my WW at a minimum.

Thanks to ALL who make this the GREATEST FORUM ON THE NET !!! IMHO !!

Yeah i read that wrong and as a dig too ...
It's crazy how we mean one thing post it and others see it entirely differently than we meant it to be.

But i guess that's what makes us human ... WE ALL can think things differently !!

It can sometimes be troubling ... but it definitely keeps us scrambling and Life interesting !!

This is just the initial system and it has outperformed ANY JAMMER'S initial release testing results:)

--- DOUBLEPOST MERGED ---

Watch this video start at .35 , notice how tmg jams the dragon from the test car AND A BIG WHITE TRUCK WITH CHROME BUMPER that DOES NOT HAVE A JAMMER at the same time. This never came out, coverage is excellent.. But now you see it for yourself.
