Do you guys use a kill switch for your RD?

I agree about the upgrade path being easier, but I don't think you can take down the RD without the LEO seeing. LEOs seem to have eyes on the back of their head for what drivers are doing with their hands after they pull someone over. I would too if I were a LEO, because you never know when a routine stop might turn into a situation where you have a gun pulled on you.
You don't do it while stopped on the shoulder. ;)

Once the LEO turns on the disco lights, his eyes are on your hands, regardless of whether you are stopped or not. If you start reaching for anything before you've even stopped, that's even MORE suspicious, not less.

If you don't know you are getting pulled until he is close behind you, then you already lost the game.

Right...like you pay attention to what's going on behind you at all times when you are driving.

Look, I'm telling you that getting a WS mount RD and telling yourself that you're going to somehow quickly take it down is risking a ticket. If you choose to ignore me and you get a ticket because of it, don't blame me. A custom installed RD that's installed inconspicuously may not help in every scenario, but I can't think of any scenario where it will hurt.

Never had a cop notice my RD, since it has never been on my windshield during a stop.

Good for you, you've been very lucky. :bravo:

And I hope you continue to be lucky. But realize that each time you get pulled over, the chances of you continuing to bat 1.000 decrease.

I never move my detector from the headliner and it has never been spotted in 30 years during any sort stop or checkpoint, etc.

I do have a couple of kill switches hidden away. :)

I agree with @STS134 on this one !!

The Leo would never have given me the breathalyzr
(He stated that)(i barely blew the test and totally passed the walk/turn/raise hand test.) ... if I had not reached for my seat belt.

I ve been stopped 4 times one on video over the Holidays and all syops had my R3 and V1 on the A-pillars. No tickets to date ... knock on wood !!

Don't reach up ... just nothing good can come of it.
Ironically one stop was for brake lights ((they are led=don't blow out all)) and even my ALP DSP Was firing up on the droid and voice announcement inches from his face. L0L. !! ... and all he could say was is that a speedometer because yours is busted ??

Yeah i didn't give him that one L0L.

So i thanked him and he left. Guess i learned earlier dont reach for anything. Leave them be ... unless it is illegal for possession of them.

Oh and yes i do need a kill switch for that DD.

The same could be said for an installed unit. :bravo:

No, no kill switch, but mine is buried in the bowels of my motorcycle.

Soon as the key goes to 'off', so does the RD.

If'n I was going to be in banned areas for more than a few hours (e.g. passing through)...might be a good retrofit.
