Always American brands? Please list possible models. Tinted or not? Are license plates in or out of state? Do plates carry a certain pattern

What tips you off? How to spot one from behind? From ahead?

    Thanks!!

It will vary by location. Here in Greater Vancouver, the RCMP are mostly all domestic, cars, but other forces are way too sneaky using a Nissan Marano, F250 PU, Dodge Ram etc

I have a thread on the topic actually : www.rdforum.org: Florida Unmarked/non-standard LEO vehicles

Around the area I have seen unmarked Explorers, Taurus's, Caprices, Tahoes, and an F150
The ghost explorers from st lucie look like this:
www.rdforum.org: Radar - R1 VS Major Local Speed Sting Oporation

FT pierce has a black ghost explorer but it has visible lightbars and such so it's obvious...

Most of the time you can spot the lights tucked in the grill or up top of the windows, sometimes they have the yellow plates. often tinted dark. I just always use caution around those vehicles until a get a good look at them

Thank you bravo. Will take a look! Would you say these cars are very unlikely to be more than 5 years old?

Also I posted this question in sticky post above but does the tactic avoiding left lane buy you anything (esp vs lasers) Or will you get an even fatter ticket for flying on the right ?

I would say that most of the unmarked I have seen are newer, I did see one older generation impala at one point, I don't think he was a traffic unit but he had stopped at a crash scene that had just happened to check on folks. Pretty much everything is newer at this point, within 5 years or so. AS far as avoiding the left lane, I generally try to pull to the middle when not actively passing folks if there is a little bit before I pass again. I will pass in the middle or right lane of the left lane is clogged up, but I try to only do it of the right lane is clear for a while, I don't like to weave through traffic, that will get their attention for sure. My main thought for staying out of the left lane when not actively passing folks is to avoid oncoming Leo's I/Oing me... logic says they might be less likely to notice me if I'm in the middle or left lane... does it actually help? hard to say. I have seen them shoot laser right lane or left lane and have been hit in the middle lane before. I'll shoot you some encounter videos in PM since you are local so you can see what I have encountered rather than diggin through the forums for all of them :)

It's tricky to spot unmarked a lot of the time. A lot have illegally tinted windows. You should look for radar antennas in the front/rear windows plus their lights that are mounted inside - usually in the rear bottom/top window corners or a short bar front or rear inside. Here in town our suv's have light bars integrated in the luggage racks on top. Hard to see unless you're looking for them.

Really I’ve never seen police ford explorers with luggage racks. One of the first things I look for actually. Where are you located?

I love bumper or trunk stickers tho. Green light.

I've seen lots of bumper stickers on LEOs. DARE, etc.
I wouldn't make that assumption. :rolldice:
