Ok so I've been thinking about getting a LJ to go along with my Redline. From what I've read here ALP is the way to go, however I've also seen quite a few post about problems people are having with their ALP....my questions are 1. Are most problems due to user error or ALP? 2. How long before heads have to be replaced? 3. If you guys push me over the fence how many heads do you think I would need for my Genesis Sedan? ( I live in NJ but travel the highways of PA, MD and VA often ) 4. If installing the BT module paired with the ALP connect app what are the con's of not having the Hi fi with the voice alerts?
Thanks in advance for any advice

    Welcome to the forum.
All products have issues sooner or later but when there are issues, product support is crucial. ALP has had minimal issues in my experience and 90% of the complaints are user error.
ALP service is unrivaled in my experience and I am in the service business. BRD is king.
The heads That I’ve had go bad after the 2 yr warranty have been handled at a steep discount by BRD. I also have some original heads that are still not dead! Years or service.
I will leave the quantity of heads to the folks in your region. The guns matter greatly as to how many you have to use for complete protection.
    Again, welcome.

ALP is generally a very solid system. I have just a basic setup and have heads that are 5 years old and still working had one fail at 4 years... But it was handled via BRD for a steep discount so no complaints. Personally I still lean towards ALP, but TMG seems to be a decent up and coming option too. For the Genesis sedan two heads up front and rear would be decent for anything except dragoneye, for that I'd add the TX head on each end. To start though two heads on each end should do pretty well as long as you can place them well. Head over to the laser jammer placement forum and add pics and we can help. Also look around lots of folks have done the Genesis sedans before so there may already be good answers on placement

Alp is a very good system but it comes at a significant price premium. What guns do you face? DE? What type of veichle do you drive?

A lot of people here have been using ALPs successfully and happily. Like everything, it can have issues and go bad but the build quality is amazing. The CPU is conformally coated to prevent moisture issues, the control set has strain relieving silicone where the wire terminates, all of the connectors are high quality. The heads that sit on the front of your vehicle and take the biggest beating are warrantied for 2 years and they are pretty good at lasting if you don't drive in too harsh conditions. Should one fail out of warranty, it is heavily discounted for you to replace thanks to the good support behind it.

The cons of no HiFi is that to get loud and detailed alerts, you need to have your phone connected to the system every time. Otherwise you get a quieter beep from the regular control set and that can be an issue if you have a car that has a lot of road noise or you listen to music loudly.

Just for clarity, you do not have to have your phone connected all the time. The regular control set will beep and alert you as well as allow you to kill the jammers without the app. If you want louder alerts over the stereo or alerts that have detailed info like what gun or what direction, then yeah, you'll have to have your phone connected and running the app,

    Jerziboi,

Welcome to the forum! For me HiFi was the way to go. The control pad does beep when you are getting hit with laser but I wanted ad much info as possible I.e. direction of laser, type of gun. You will always hey that with the HiFi. If I'm rocking out the music is loud, you WILL NOT hear the help from the control pad. Did not want to use the phone because if something happens to my phone it will effect my ALP didn't want to take that chance. The system it self, best on the market. Amount of heads needed, the guys here here can definitely give you great advice. Customer service for the ALP, Tom at BRD is awesome. I have a 5 head setup on a 15 Impala it is bulletproof. I drive from Colorado to Mississippi 3-5 times a year and I have complete confidence my system. Get the ALP,you won't be disappointed.

Ditto what Revglent said regarding the HiFi, I think it is worth the extra money. The alert siren and verbal gun identification are great. My system is pretty basic otherwise, a quad Rx. No need/desire for Bluetooth or to integrate it with my V1.

    1) from my experience I would assume most errors are user errors.
    2) I have had mine for over 2 years and have not had to replace the heads yet.
    3) I would do 2 front and 2 back
    4) I have the Bluetooth and I get the same information stated via voice alerts just on my phone. Cons are basically distracted driving to retrieve info if you don’t have voice alerts.

I have had mine (Alps/NetRadar) for a while and love the whole system. I use BT because it will play through the speakers in my car (Miata - top down all of the time...). It wasn't cheap, but has paid for itself many, many times over. Never an issue or problem that was't handled immediatly, an those were all just set-up questions.
