Not sure if it is the right section but I just saw this video and I was wondering if this can be used in a car to be 100% laser proof!!!!

It is amazing

Sounds like you didn't watch to the end.

He uses a box with a tiny square hole at the top (with the inside painted with black 2.0) and tricks viewers into thinking he's created a material blacker than Vantablack

10:07 of the video

So we're back to using parking sensors again. :D

I did see the whole video. The idea is to use ventablack on cars which absorbs 99.6%!

The idea of the video is to show that it was possible to do something like that to counter LIDAR.

The question is would the car be safe to drive on normal roads ?
What about at night? Will the car will be visible only with the headlights?

The ultimate coating would be made of a molecule vibrating @ 905nm = full absorbtion = no return...classified defense ....

Abosrbant black helps a laser jammer. I have seen a dragon get off axis punch throughs until matte black and or veil came into place.

Another thread on vantablack

"
After doing some research vantablack can't currently be applied to cars for a couple reasons

1. not available to consumers
2. carbon nano-tubes are grown on the desired surface IN A LAB using Chemical Vapor Deposition
3. the nano-tubes are weak as hell and would break off if you even brushed up against the coating.
4. insanely expensive, a couple square inch sample is a couple hundred bucks

All that being said, black 2.0 and 3.0 might actually be useful*

You could consider removing anything reflective on your car. So all that chrome needs to go especially on the front of your car. Know your zones, research your long trips, check speed limits and always use Waze. Rabbits are your friends. Of course if you have the cash, spring on some ALPs...

I just couldn't resist.

I have seen a couple of cars that were painted the darkest "light absorbing" 'inside of charcoal' black color I have ever seen. Ugly as H3LL, but cool for stealth.

One day I want to get one of those ugly old Chrysler 300 station wagons, put heavy duty crash bars on the front, paint it that deepest inner-charcoal black, and make another "The Car" or "Christine" movie with it. Yeah sure...it will never happen, but one can imagine how much fun that would be and fantasize about it.

Using a rangefinder, aiming at a black none reflective cow produced reduced distances compared to a white fence post or lighter colored animal. So I definitely know reflection is factor in Target aquisition. Veil on the headlights and no front plate stopped the dragon eye compact random off axis punch throughs with two Alp heads on a black Camaro completely and entirely. I shot that thing in eccm mode over 1 hour while I could play with it. Very fun.
