I am curious to know if some Michiganders here know what LIDAR guns they have experienced or seen in the state and where? The only information I could gather is that SE Michigan likes KUSTOM guns, such as the ProLaser and ProLite, and the UltraLyte/Marksman guns.

I did read that the Michigan State Police were awarded $250k a few years ago for new measurement equipment and had some sort of deal for Digital Ally LIDAR units (a search tells me this is made by DragonEye...not sure if this is the same "DragonEye" that is very hard to jam so I'm curious to know).

I really have not seen much in Mid and Northern Mich. What I have seen has been Prolaser and Ultralyte, in Southern and Western Michigan.

LIDAR is rare in West Michigan. I drive between 150 to 200 miles a day and have only seen it used in the Holland area once (2 years ago), and the Grand Rapids area once (8 years ago). In greater Michigan, I have seen it being used in Lansing once (two years ago) and in the Detroit metro area once (a year ago). So, not a lot of use in my travels. But then again, I rarely seem to run into RADAR being used on the interstates, let alone LIDAR. I think of all the states in which I regularly drive, general speed enforcement in Michigan is sparse in comparison. I'm sure that others in this state may see more.

I seem to agree with what everyone has said. I have only been lasered once in my life on a Michigan freeway and it was going east towards and within Livonia. Don't know the gun though because I only have a RD.

I have not encountered any. Not saying its not out there, just haven't seen it yet. I'm thankful for that !
I received 1 laser alert over by the airport , but I was not able to confirm if it was valid or a false.
My R3 does detect laser ok (for what it's worth) as I had two alerts in Ohio that were confirmed visually.

Ohio's speed enforcement on the highway is unparalleled. Every time I've gone through there it's been ridiculous with Ka band.

Just got hit with the Ultralyte by Michigan State Police (MSP) the other day. It was on purpose though because I saw the LEO hiding behind a bridge in the opposite direction of travel so I turned around and went in the opposite direction on the highway towards the LEO. Ultralyte for MSP is confirmed.

Agreed
Was up there visiting in 2012 and 2013
Both times was doing 80 on the interstate and was getting passed by junk rust box Saturns at 95mph at night

Ime speed enforcement depends on how many people want to live in the area
Michigan knows it cant chase residents out with stiff traffic enforcement

I’ve seen the local enforcement use LIDAR pretty consistently on main highways through bigger cities. MSP usually reserves themselves pretty well but I see them once or twice a month hitting people with laser.

Here’s a picture of a Detroit cop using what looks to be an UltraLyte hitting Northbound I-75 traffic (below the overpass of W. Woodward Heights Blvd.)

Well, at least it's an easy gun to thwart.

On the way towards Brighton from Ypsi and close to Ypsi. I don't know my highways though so can't help you there. The highways I'm usually on are US-23 and I94/96 so maybe you could guess. I am a GPS guy, or a "child of the magenta line" if you know the aviation field. I try not to be of the magenta line in the plane though...

That's a rare sight! Well, not if it was on a highway, but Detroit police I have never seen speed enforcement done, unless it was near the airport. Apparently someone said on here that DE is possible used at DTW, but unconfirmed by anyone else.

Romulus PD I believe does have a DE but I haven't gotten close enough to confirm. I'll keep my camera charged for the next time I go down/up 275, they camp the bend next to the airport (KDTW)just north of the Eureka road exits. I know MSP had a contract to purchase DE equipment in 2014 so I'm pretty sure that's what they use

MSP generally uses theTrueSpeed. The contract was a general contract covering all the major LIDAR suppliers. When I've actually looked at expenditures approved by various departments' governing bodies and the State of Michigan purchases, DragonEye isn't on there. I'm not saying that they aren't here but I think it'd be a rare agency that has one. If anything, I'd expect to see Stalkers such as the LR or XLR before I'd see anything from DragonEye.

This was the contract I was referring to, they may have gotten rid of them to locals by now. It specifically states DragonEye
