First and foremost, I would like to thank you and Uniden for catering in the needs for customer base support. The fact that you are active and letting members participate with product testing and product support is a huge plus to the company. I have never seen this kind of active participation from the other competitors. I am a long time radar detector user and enthusiast as well as being member with other RD forums. Now, getting to my concern. I will eventually get the R7 and was reading the manual for it. As I understood, there are only 5 setting for volume control. Is that correct? If it is true, I would like to see if Uniden can break down the settings into 1/2 increments so the total settings will be 10 with 10 being as loud as 5. 1/3 be even better. The reason being, to me setting auto mute at 1 with my R3 is still loud. I don't like to set it to 0 because I wanted to hear the strength as I get closer or when going away from the source. This will make the R7 much quieter and specially when you are dealing with annoying BSM alerts and other K band false alerts. We cannot avoid BSM alerts totally but if Uniden can make it quieter by inputting the right auto mute volume settings, that would relieve us from this annoying alerts because everyone has different hearing capabilities. I know there is a mute button. But if you can avoid using it, that will be a plus. Thank you for your support.

Hello guys,

I want to leave some hopefully constructive criticism about Uniden purchasing and delivery.
I'm not from the US, but I have been visiting for 2 weeks, and with this occasion I wanted to purchase a Uniden RD. I made Order #11781 (March 3, 2019). The estimated shipping date was one week (kind of a long time, but I understand you are busy with the R7 logistics now).
After 10 days and no emails and no tracking number, I contacted the support team to ask about the ETA for the delivery and AWB.
Only then have they shipped the radar detector, with the ETA after I was leaving the US. I had to cancel the order.

I'm a bit disappointed with the slow response and action from the warehouse team. My order was for an older product that was supposed to be in stock, but it took them 10 days to get it from the shelf into the courier car.
My next window will be in June, so I hope by then things will have changed for the better.

Regards,
Hyadum
You could also see if there is a Best Buy store in the area you are travelling. Checking online will show you what is in stock in the store. You can then either purchase online and pick-up in the store, or go to the store and hope that it's still in stock.

Good idea to check on but, at least in my area, the BB’s are out of stock and showing April 9 as the earliest delivery date.

Hi uniden support....My r3 display is starting to die out. I can't see anything in day time and at night can barely see in the display.

Yeah, repair is the only thing I can suggest for display problems.

I drive an Acura MDX, driving one way tonight everything was good for about 20 miles one way. On the way back same route I kept getting a rear K band at a frequency between 24.216 to 24.223 and kept incriminating. I would Mute Memory it and it would come back within two minutes again with an number up from previous. So 24.216 , 24.217 then 24.218 and so on.

Most Acura’s I’ve noticed false in the K Block range (24.194-24.204). I have also run into some late model MDXs that give a 24.168 false as well. The other day I came across a Honda Odyssey that gave a 24.211 false. Honda’s/Acura’s are a PITA. So if your R7 was indeed falsing to your own car, mute memory is useless. It works on GPS, so as soon as you’re outside of the lockout range you created, the detector will alert again if it’s your car creating the false. Use mute memory only for stationary false alerts. You can try running in Advanced mode if you’re not already and lower your K sensitivity. Make sure K filter is on, try turning TSF on. K Narrow is another option that only scans up to 24.200 so that will definitely help. I use K Wide as I encounter a lot of legit K Band, but Narrow might work for you. You just have to dial in the settings over time to what works best for you and your area, but driving the worst BSM offender for the R Series will most likely make it more difficult to accomplish.

What year is your MDX? I have seen some older MDXs falsing outside of 24.194-24.204 (up higher). But not many.

2012. On my way to work this morning same thing 24.216 to 24.223 it would alert then say rear/front (mainly rear) and shut off. Then step up a digit after a minute and do the same thing. I am going to test this out further on my road trip coming up this Friday as I am headed through the mountains where there would not be any alerts at certain sections.

There were barely any vehicles around me. On the original firmware this did not happen. It was the quietest thing ever but with the update it introduced this issue. I will play with some settings suggested above as I run the City mode currently. I still need to do a factory reset after the firmware update I did as I was doing some reading this morning and that's what was suggested as a procedure.

Do a factory reset. I don't know if you said what model you are using, but turning the TSF and K filters on, as well as K narrow may help. If you have an R7, turn K-block on.

Since you weren't having problems before the firmware update, I'm fairly certain we can get this fixed with your settings, but it certainly sounds like it's falsing off of your vehicle.

As suggested, definitely do the factory reset. If that doesn’t help, you can try reloading the firmware with the recovery box checked followed by another factory reset. If none of that helps, K Narrow will probably be your best bet as City mode already lowers K Sensitivity to around 18% and the lowest you you can go in Advanced mode is 30%.

Detector clip for the window mount will not lock in on r7. I can't find my receipt from BRD. How do handle that?

Call BRD customer service: Return Process

They should be able to look up your purchase one way or another.

Or go through Uniden (but you’ll still need a copy of your receipt from BRD):

As suggested I did all of this and did a quick 5 minute drive around the neighborhood and it seems to have worked. I will report back after my drive home.

On the way home from work it was silent. Had two K band alerts to speed signs and thats it. Loving this thing more and more. One quick question though, how is the redlight speed on green camera data stored? Is it sourced via GPS location or is it actually detected? Curious as I drove past one last night that used to be at the intersection and it alerted me to it but I could not see it anywhere.

The red light/speed cam database is stored on the detector. It then uses GPS to warn you of these cameras as you approach them. Sometimes you’ll run into a location that used to have a camera but has since been removed, but not yet removed from the database itself. You can delete red light camera locations by holding the mute button during the alert. Speed camera locations cannot be deleted at this time. Alerts are also not directional... Meaning if it’s a four way intersection and only north & south have cameras, but you’re traveling east or west, you’ll still be alerted.

Hello there @UnidenSupport just purchased an R7 last week from BB and the power cord was toast right out of the box. I’m using a cord I already had currently. I’ve went through the online product registration process and tried to submit a warranty claim on Saturday I believe and haven’t heard anything yet. Can you help in this situation? I really don’t want to return the whole unit for a new power cord.
