    Hello everyone,
I thought it would be a good idea to start a specific thread to consolidate people's questions and save me some leg work in patrolling the forums here to give people help. I would love to see things like warranty questions, possible defective units, finding the right product and setup questions here. Some things I will respond to directly, but If i suspect we may need to exchange personal information, I will direct message you. A few caveats for this thread:

    1. lets keep it on topic I encourage people to ask and even answer questions, but lets avoid having conversations in the thread.
    2. This is not the place for firmware questions, testing or reporting of issues. Those should be posted in other threads (of which there are many already) or direct messaged to me.
    3. I don't care if your issue is in another thread. If you need help with replacement parts, are questioning if you need to send your unit in for repair, or it's just acting weird, put it here.
    4. Some products are old enough that we do not have support information for them. I will let you know if this is the case

Lastly, I will put some support information here and I encourage you to use it as per my recommendations or if you preemptively suspect it is the best course of action:

Thats great and thanks for creating this thread. (I was an early buyer of an R3 and couldn't be happier with it).

    Great idea.
Just want to say if Uniden offered current R3/R1 users a paid hardware upgrade option to allow their unit to scan the full MRCD frequency I would gladly pay for the upgrade & I'm sure others on this forum would join me. Although I'm still using FW 1.37 since I don't encounter MRCD in my daily area.

@HaloInReverse I can read. A hardware upgrade question is not related to the FW or an issue. Can you?

I think it is a legitimate question for the thread.

This needs to be a “sticky” since it will soon get bumped on down to the bottom of the page and beyond.

I just reported the thread to see if a moderator would sticky it. That's the fastest way to get their attention.

I do not know if that is something we have in the works, but I have sent it along. It would likely not be a paid upgrade if we did something like that.

Probably more appropriate for another thread considering actual data for the US shows that the scan range is appropriate. This is something that requires more data and discussion with our CA members because this is something made note of from a different country, but yet took off like a wild fire.

See this thread for starters: r.tapatalk.com: Speed Cameras - Radar FCCID Information

I didn't realize this was not occurring in the States. And since I'm still using FW 1.37 since I don't encounter MRCD I don't pay a whole lot of attention to the MRCD threads. But just because those frequencies are not being used here today doesn't mean they will never make it to the States. But thanks for the reply.

    Obviously not...damn.

Honestly if Uniden was going to make hardware updates, most likely they'd release a new detector.

Just bought my r1 last week Is it maybe possible for a unit to maybe not have range that it should? Sometimes I'll leave it on hwy when I get into town and notice when I get near some traffic lights it just starts to k band . Maybe it's far away? Idk it really shouts at me passing under them. I was in a parking lot with a independent and Canadian tire in Carleton place Ontario, and it k banded, guessing it was the door openers.. But then a random Ka band went off.. Hwy to Ottawa was to my right. Went back to the spot and was just k again.. Maybe I cop was around? Been passing cops and it hasn't gone off . Gussing bc the rdd was off. Tips? Or info on the unit just ask

The best place for these types of questions is in the forum. Based on your post, I am assuming this is your first detector. I have a lot to say but won’t do it here. My guess is your R1 is just fine but you need some setttings recommendations and some general detector info on how they work (they’re not cop detectors :)).
