I don't understand why it never occurred to Valentine 1 selling their units with color display vs. only red. That would solve the issue of distinguishing radar band at night while driving

    I assume it's easier/cheaper to manufacture with a single color .

I think a lot of things occur to them but they just don’t do it.

I agree. It's very sad they won't make such a simple change that could generate big sales. What ever the difference in money for the change is nothing compared to the new money coming in

A big complaint people have is that aside from the notification not being digital the bands are all aligned on top of each other and the same color. Even using glasses it's not easy to distinguish at night which means you'll need a couple of extra seconds which could result in an accident

The thing is somewhat modeled after the Cincinnati microwave passport facade- knobs, LED red lights...

    It needs a face-lift.

I hear those OLED screens last a while. For those that one flashy looks and bugs they can get the Max 360.

Can you belief I still have the passport I purchased 20 plus years ago. I keep it for sentimental reasons. It was a quality product that still functions. All lights function. The radar was made to last! However technology has changed and no longer functional in current environment

I wish they offered an upgrade to the actual V1 itself that included the blue lights like the concealed display upgrade offers.......

I've seen multi-colored V1 main units somewhere. I think it's just a bigger risk so it's not as common.

Back then, LED's didn't come in blue, green, white, etc. thus there were not 4 significantly different color LED's. I'm sure they worked to get all the LED's including the digital display to match in color and brightness (including tracking when dimmed). I too wish that they would update to make it easier to identify the band from the display but with an app it's moot now.

I understand using the dongle to connect the phone works, but if LED's came in different colors some people would opt out having to pair their phones

Mistake. The benefits of an app are major including much improved false management and more details available on alerts with negligible inconvience and cost. Pairing need be done only once, and everyone has a smartphone.

I kind of agree HeartDoctor. I'm working right now on modifying my Concealed Display so that I can put it in the instrument cluster. (More for a warning in my field of view than anything.)
I have wanted different color lights for a few years at least, but with an app I get Ka signals specifically announced and frequency readouts and all of that so I'm not going to modify the colors as well. The colors will be diminished by the tinted plastic I'm placing it behind anyway. :)

    [Edited to add]
I would not ever go without an app by choice. (Whether the phone is visible or not) It's nice to have the Concealed Display if there is a phone problem though.

@Dtrader2k, Have you used an app with your V1 yet? If not, you really should consider it. :)

I do use the dongle with phone app for the additional information, but if the V1 had color display it would give give me the information I need initially

You would still run the app, just not have it up on your phone screen all the time. Even with my app up all the time on a perm phone, I still catch myself wanting to look at the unit first.

I use V1 Connection and Jav1 with the regular dongle. I initially used the LE dongle, but Jav1 doesn't support it and had to purchase regular Android dongle
