Concerning item #2 under "Lockouts", "Ability to set your own lockout range (10-50 Mhz)" how important is this feature to you all? Please post a reply in this thread so Uniden has an idea of whether it's a popular feature or wouldn't be used and will only confuse people or add unnecessary complexity to the menu.

Thanks!

It’s something I’ve never desired. I can see this as useful but would be confusing for novice users. Since I’m in an almost no K threat area and run City most of the time, I would probably set it to 50 Mhs for a quieter experience. If the feature isn’t added I won’t miss it though.

Normally, any additional control of a detector is something that I'd welcome. In this case, I think the complication of adjusting lock out range would outweigh the benefit. It's not something with which I've had an issue.

Generally I feel the more options the better to customise a product to your liking as well as I'm a control freak so I like choices.
In this particular case I'm fine with the default that Uniden uses and I doubt I would change it. I feel that the effort would be better spent on one of the other requests we have listed.

Keep up the great work Engineers.

I would say not important at all. My only issue with R3 right now is not being able to mute RLCs.

Appreciate the question. I feel this would be a nice to have not a need to have. There are much more important features/changes.

I’d love that option, as stationary false drift is overblown to start with, and I live in K country.

Here we are at the middle of sept... still with no update. Not complaining... just really, really surprised. Based on previous history, they were releasing firmware updates regularly.

I’d be curious if active development and bug fixing is actually occurring for the R3 firmware... or is uniden more focused on prepping the new models?

I know we keep hearing “when it’s ready” but in the technology world, nothing is ever truly “ready” or done. Already today I’ve had 6 app updates on my phone - 4 of those were last updated less than 24 hrs. ago.

Options are good, novice can accept default or advanced users can tweak

The biggest change with the next update is the introduction of MRCD support. I don't think anyone is surprised that there were some issues along the way with reliably detecting that, as well as filtering out falses from BSM systems that seem to be a huge problem for most new MRCD detectors. I'm sure that we'll get an update eventually, but at this point, I'm guessing it will be done when it's done right.

I really, really, really want this feature. Most of the enforcement I run into is K, and I've avoided lockouts in certain areas with low power speed signs because I've had super short legit detection ranges there due to terrain. I'd feel much more comfortable if I could lower the frequency range to 5 or 10. It's a tradeoff, but I think it's worth it. Causal users probably wouldn't agree.

Exactly as @meismyname said.

People. Please be reasonable. They’re working on an update, a major one to further enhance its capabilities. They’ve been at it for a while. It hasn’t been fully realized yet. Let them polish it. Good lord.

What exactly is reasonable? It has been 3 and a half months since the first tease. It seems to me, it would have made much more sense for them to release incremental updates during that time. Things that could help the OLED display last longer would have been useful months ago. The MRCD could have waited on the 'polishing'. Why try to put so much into one update?

I like the idea of advanced options for this. I live in a K band area as well. BUT, if it's between this and better filtering for the usual suspect BSMs, I'll take the better filtering instead.

By what magic do you think software can cure hardware burn-in issues? They’ve had a solution since the beginning: dark mode.

What do you mean “so much” is being put into one update? MRCD detection is a big deal. But what else specifically that’s in the update do you want today? What are you being deprived of? Where are you being failed with 1.37?

The way I see it....

If the new firmware is going to be delayed if this is deemed to be of great importance? No, I can wait for this in a future firmware update.

If the ability to set your own lockout range has no delaying effect on when the firmware currently being worked on is released..... Yes, I'd like to have this feature.

I think you and I have had this discussion before, but "dark mode" is not a viable solution the way it is set up currently. When in dark mode, the screen will only come on and alert you in dim mode. It's almost impossible to see it in daylight! The new FW is supposed to allow the user to choose what mode the screen alerts at coming from "dark mode". Bright, Dim, or Dimmer. That's one of the known enhancements that I could have been using all along. There was also talk of "pixel shifting" being part of the FW, but no one said for sure.

There is also the addition of 300 extra lockouts that was confirmed a long time ago. That is also something several of us could be using now. There is also an additional "Bogey" alert for those that came from the V1 that has been confirmed.

I think there is more, but I think you get the picture. Some folks may have wanted some of these features all along, but for some reason, they all have to be packaged with MRCD. Why? Some people may not even have a need for MRCD, but would be happy with one or two other new features without ever updating to the MRCD FW version.

My question to you and many of the other 'apologists' is this; What do YOU think is a "reasonable" amount of time to have to wait for the update? 4 months, 6 months, A year? We all have what we think is a reasonable expectation for things like this. Why do people get so worked up over Escort updates, but if you mention your expectations in the Uniden forum, you're made to feel like you're some kind of impatient, childish fit-thrower.
