I was on my way home from work this past saturday. I had just finished a phone call with Jane, she called me to tell me that the R1 that I just bought from @Driver66 had arrived a couple of days earlier than we expected! the entire time that I was on the phone with Jane, there was a ragged @ss pickup in front of me running about 50 mph. I got a running start at him because I was driving my gutless little civic! I was up to 75 or so and pissed off as I went to pass him, as soon as I got about half way in the other lane to go around him, My R1 screams out a 34.7 alert! So I jam on the brakes and fall back behind the truck and start to look for mr. trooper. I looked up ahead as far as I could see and didn't see him, since as always it was a IO alert, it stopped for what seemed like forever then it came back stronger than before, so I knew he was hiding up ahead. Sure enough, about 2 miles from where I got the first blip and around a curve AND behind a railroad light fixture was not 1 but 2 of NC's finest getting ready to ruin somebody's weekend! Thanks to this bad @ss R1 of mine, It wasn't mine! We had this alert on video, but somehow it got lost! It was too good not to share so I put it here!

I know somebody else who had that exact same thing happen in his gutless car about a month ago, only he was looking to take three! Even posted a video of the anchor dropping event. :D

I can't even tell you how often this happens to me, part of my commute is a flat straight country road, speed limit of 55, I usually do about 80. occasionally I get behind one person going 55 -60 and I pull out to pass and immediately start getting an alert... usually if its weak I finish the pass if it's only 1-2 cars as I get about 4- 5 miles or range on this road. My record so far is a jump of 12 cars all piled up behind someone going 55, no one would pass the idiot... I did then everyone else realized that they should too! I will say I almost fumbled a 2 car +1 truck pass last week, cause there was actually a third car in front of the truck that I couldn't see real well until I pulled out into the passing lane. It was a LEO, and he was hiding there in front of the truck in hopes of someone blasting up to pass so he could get 'em. thankfully my SA spotted him before hit the gas yet, so I was still right at 55-60 which is what he was going, If I had a running start that would have ended badly!

I thought this is a story where you try to pass someone and all of the sudden they are spiteful, gas the car and run it like its the Indy 500 to keep you from passing. Happens to me all the time.

But good story!

That's why I always try to get a run at them before I get to their bumper! Unless of course we're driving the Boss! Then I just hope and pray that they will be stupid and I'll suck their headlights out as I go by on the chip at 7500 rpm's!
