So based on a the total width of a head covering 40” across, the placement would look something like this?

(Based on looking up the car width of 71.6” and some scaling in Excel)

This would be my guess with 2 heads.

I'm looking forward to the installs and subsequent testing that will reveal the nature of this beast...

I wouldn't bank on a head covering 40". If you're over 60" in width you're gonna need 3 sensors, especially in Alberta

What car would be 60" or less? Even a Miata is 68" across.

I ordered a Quint, but I do wonder about only 2 heads for rear coverage, as I didn't see much testing on that or overpass shots.

Well this is how I do the math:

68÷3= 22.667

I divide it by 3, because that's 2 sensors spaced evenly. Each sensor only has to cover less than 23". You're going to need 3 sensors per side against DragonEye. I promise. I wouldn't make each head cover more than 25". Even against an XLR/TSS that's playing with fire

I knew I should have ordered an extra head. They were already sold out of single long cables so I skipped it b

Btw when I said 40" I was referring to the TOTAL width of sensor coverage.

Just in case anyone was confused.

So my car, which is 72" wide:

2 sensors = min 24" apart (Max 30")
3 sensors = 18" apart? (Not possible on my grill)

The manual says to keep sensors at least 24-30" apart to avoid interference. How does that work with the third sensor? Does it have to have the third sensor on a specific port, single cable, or location (in the middle)?

Oh yeah, I'd bank on a single head covering a 18" radius for sure. Even the old LI's could cover that. There has been no interference that I can recall having them closer than 24". If that were the case, 3 heads would be null on a lot (if not all) cars. I'm only able to go 18" edge to edge because my vehicle is so small. Please get a 3rd sensor for Edmonton use, you WILL need it. 1 ticket is all it takes to pay for that additional head, so it will pay for itself fast
