My unit is at least 4 years old V2 and since the last couple of updates, which has probably nothing to do with this problem anyway! It will just randomly power off, I see the light go red and start flashing just like it would if you hit the power button. There is no rhyme or reason when this will happen, driving or sitting still it just turns off then I have to push the power button and it fires right up! Yes I checked the connections and they are all good! could it be my CPU going bad?

I'd almost wonder if it's the control pad and a button sticking a little (or an internal short on the pad or cable) causing the system to think you are holding down the power button and power therefor it powers off.

HIFI control pad---The button feels fine and has a nice feeling when being pushed, nothing out of the ordinary!

Where is your CPU located? Is it possible that you have trapped a lot of heat with something that used to be in free air? Heat can do what you describe to electronics.

Check your ground cable. Also, make sure your control pad is not near a heat source

Before going crazy hook up something else to the same + and - wires of the ALP and see if that also goes down when the ALP goes down. If the ALP see's low voltage it will do exactly what you are seeing.

Could be uour car battery got weak
Maybe losing .5 volts ?? Cell going bad ??
Something on that circuit using the voltage ,,, like ELECTRIC SEAT HEAT REAR WINDOW HEATER ???

Something you just started using I would search for ...

or put a voltmeter on the circuit to read when it goes out

Check the ground for sure. Then hook up a voltmeter to see what its doing.

No low voltage warning from the speaker it sounds like right? It gives you an audible alert "Warning: low voltage" then it shuts off. I get that when I don't tighten all the grounds down enough

Possibly battery in vehicle going bad? My old car I had my LI installed and what you described same thing happened to me. Since I replaced the battery problem solved.

I am having the same issue with my HiFi control set, which occurres only at high temperature when the car was parked directly in the sun. It was explained to me, that older control sets are not as heat resistant as the newer ones.

After a few minutes driving with AC enabled, it works without problems again.
