Sure, I'm willing to come to New Jersey to test further. Let me look over my schedule and ill private message you in a day or two. Thank you very much for offering. I would like to test some other guns that Delaware police use and some guns that you believe will put this system to the test. Thanks again.

Hi @RADAR VINCE,

As we have communicated via PM, I'll just say here that it was a pleasure meeting you and "shooting" your car's ZR5 system. It is the first Escort system, of any kind, that I have tested. From my experience and from what other RDF member's have written in this Thread, as well as in other Threads, your 4-head ZR5 system did great. As long as you get a LIDAR alert warning, while your ZR5 system is "doing its thing" and you slow to the PSL,and then turn your system off, or in standby, or whatever action stops it from "doing its thing" you are "good to go"!
@model55amg. Double tap of mute turns off jamming.

Escort will keep it awhile, you just won't get updates. Ask the owner of LSPs what they got? Nada, zilch, nothing.

I've been talking to a Escort Engineer over the phone. He has helped me with installation and told me where to install the sensor heads. H

Yeah I'm worried about that myself. I've been talking to Escort which gave me advice on installation and a bunch of recommendations. He claims that they won't. I guess will have to wait and see.

X2. I’m willing to bet that the test was done with very old Dragoneye firmware.

I'll advise of the f/w, but I believe I will have to Post it in the Advanced section. If I am not allowed to Post the f/w, please advise as to how I can get the info out.
By a PM perhaps? To whomever is interested?
I will be out of contact with everyone until Friday, at which time I will Post the f/w of the DESL and the DETC which I used.

EDIT: I decided not to post the firmware. However, at his request, I did tell one RDForum Advanced Level member, via a PM.

please remind me, do they have a auto cut off or is it still just by the detector? i read so much, i get confused
On the ZR5 (hardwired version) it has a controller which you have to double-tap the mute button to turn off the laser Jammer. On the ZW5 (Wireless version) have to double-tap the mute button on the radar detector. There is no auto shut off on the escort laser jammers.

I would estimate the length of the course (road) was approximately 1,000 feet. We never did measure it, unfortunately. Unlike the Test Course here in South Jersey, which is greater than 1320 feet, and may be closer to 1,500 feet or so, and which has been used for testing by RDF members, especially in Aug. & Sep. 2015, when there were approximately 12 - 15 cars at the start of the tests, Radar Vince and I just tried to find a road that was rural and not well traveled, and had a fairly long straight run for the testing. The road was slightly downhill from the start of each run, it then leveled out. The road was very bumpy. When I drove my car on it, I was jostled quite a bit, both by the road and my car's AMG suspension. I do not have the ability to alter the suspension settings in my car.

The DETC is two years old. The DESL is one year old. I will try to Post the F/W of the LIDAR guns in the Advanced section. I think I am allowed to Post to Advanced, and I will only be able to see reply Posts to my Post.

The next time I travel through Radar Vince's area, which should be very soon, I will coordinate with him in order that we perform testing with only two of the ZR5 sensors operating.

Thanks! I am glad to help a fellow RDForum member by testing his car's LIDAR CM system, so that he knows if it is working correctly, and therefore he has "peace of mind" while driving. I'm also glad to have been able to test a new system, not only for my own knowledge of a system's capabilities, but also for other RDForum members' knowledge and interest. regarding the system's capabilities.

You are quite welcome! I am always glad to help a fellow RDF member by testing their car's LIDAR CM system, both for the member's knowledge and the knowledge of all RDF members.
Are you allowed to PM the ver info to folks like myself nit elevated enough to see in closed sections? Do I need to do a secret handshake live? I get that certain info be protected from LEO or manufacturers that could be lurking in these surfdom class forum levels I and so many others are stuck in. Wish there was a method to allow those of us at the bottom of the cast to learn info that would help us make best choices too.

To both of you, thanks for posting the test results you did. Very helpful.

Dumb question, had the controller been updated to latest FW recently through DT?

You can send a private message to the LIDAR gun owner and then it is up to them if they want to indicate it or not. It is generally a concept of security through obscurity. Not perfect, but paired with the RDF college system of participation and knowledge-based advancement, works fairly well for rewarding effort and dedication with continued learning. Nothing is perfect, but once you accept it and work at it, it is worth the time and effort.

Unknown Unknowns:

“Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don't know we don't know. And if one looks throughout the history of our country and other free countries, it is the latter category that tend to be the difficult ones.” - Donald H. Rumsfeld

Thank you guys for doing this. Very interesting reading.

If I may: did you, or has anyone, seen any recent ZR5 testing with two heads only? OP, anything you came across when you went this route? I ask because I run a Max Ci 360 install with dual heads each front/rear. As I understand it, ShifterMax = ZR5.

Veri,

I plan on testing next week again. I will tape off 2 heads and test but i know my vehicles front end is too big for two heads to fully protect but, I want to see how well it performs. I wish there were more users testing this system but, it look like it's only me at the present time. You have a good system. What type of car do you have? Please post a picture of your set up.

Would be interested in your results. I have an install on an MB S-class, can't post pics of my own right this second, but it's similar to the pics I posted in my thread looking into install details (www.rdforum.org: Escort Max Ci 360 (maybe) install questions) -- the front two heads are mounted just underneath the horizontal trim bar below where "1" and "2" appear in the picture. Difficult to make perfectly level at that location with adhesive tape mounting on the top, securing them to the underside of that trim.

I'm too far away to help in testing but am curious to see what kind of performance you see from a two-head test.

I wouldn't complain about punch throughs at 30-40 yards.
Neither would I. I would be more concerned about the random punch-throughs at 500-1500 feet if that were to be the case with a two-head setup.

As what others have said.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to test the system out.

Escort has gotten such a bad rap here for such a long time, not many have take the chance and purchased the system..... let alone test it out.

It’s very much appreciated. Keep it up.

I totally agree. I bought my ZR5 on Escorts proven reputation. I've been an Escort user from the beginning detector. So Im glad to hear some positive feedback. I too have only a dual head front on my Cayman S. Id like to get some results from the Dragon eye units as they are built here less than 2 miles from my home here in Duluth, GA. Ill be waiting for some results as well, and also, I've never had my new system tested. So any RDF viewers in the Duluth, ATL, GA area want to play test his system let me know by a reply please. Thanks for the informative feedback YALL :O)

How much are you willing to bet? I'll show you mine, if you show me yours.

Well I for one wish Monomoy the best of Luck , but unfortunately I am siding with
@BestRadarDetectors on this.

Thinking things I cannot say in Forums is the reason it did so well.
I hope Im wrong, but I doubt it.

We'll see but not holding my breath.
