Sorry I've been off the radar guys. Between work, family and the house, I've been up to my eyeballs in _______________ (you can fill in the blank). :D

Case in point - I finally got a chance to download the latest RC M firmware (7/16/18) but didn't get to install it until a couple weeks ago. The RC M was noticeably quieter - so much so that I knew I had either bricked the RC M, the upgrade had turned something off or I had inadvertently turned something off. I kept thinking that I needed to go through the settings again when I get a chance. But, chances are few and far between and I've just had to watch the LEOs roll by and wonder. Sure, there were a couple K Band alerts on the rear antenna (probably BSM's) and a few of those 33.8/34.7 alerts, but I never got to lay eyes on the source (to my knowledge), so I didn't/don't know if they were anomalies or the real thing.

I finally got a chance to verify on a legit speed trap AND check my settings this past weekend.

The RC M works and is configured as I want.

But something is different in the "secret sauce" and the detector is MUCH quieter than even the previous version. I still have to get more experience on range but during the one encounter I had this weekend (a Park Ranger running 34.7), I had more than enough warning (3/4 of a mile, over the hill, around the curve and through the vegetation) to get my speed down to 10 below the PSL.

Sorry that I have no video of the encounter - just another project demanding my attention...

Good to have you back!

Glad you're enjoying the RC-M! Jon Randy, and the team are doing a great job with Radenso. Can't wait to see what they do next!

Is the 7/16 update just a red/speed light database update? Is there a way to check what the latest firmware version is?

Ah, oops - I didn't think about "update" in that context. I shoulda said something like, "Report of My Bride's RC M Since the Last Update (7/16/18)," or something like that.

Sorry about that because I know how eager I am to get the new alert sounds that were supposed to be released on Monday for the RC M...

Edit: I have revised the title to be less misleading.

I think Jon is holding back the firmware updates just because he specifically said it was going to be out Monday just to screw with us. Haha.

If I remember right, the redlight/speed camera database update was in April...

Is there a reason people do not check the Radenso website to get accurate information re: date of the database and instead speculate here?

From the Radenso website for the RC-M: "Latest database version: 07.16.2018"

That's what I was saying/referring to. On the website, it says database version 7/16. To me, database means red light/speed camera database.

However, firmware version is no where to be found. In contrast to the ALP, you can easily see the latest firmware versions and dates they became available.

Probably a question for Randy, he handled week the website updates.

Do you get the version after entering your serial on the website for the RCM update?

No, last time I did it, it just gave me like 5 update files. I think it still gives you the files even though you have the latest firmware/database files. I don't think the website knows if you have the latest firmware or not so it just spits those out, regardless.

Right. It knows if your serial number is legit and eligible but no way to know which update you actually have on the unit. There is an option to upload a cfg file so that may make it a bit smarter and be able to check versions but I have never done it.

That’s rumored to be in the next firmware update that has been teased to come out any day now. It will be welcomed by many to have that alert/volume fix

I can't wait for the next update.

I also can't wait for RC-M that has ALP linked, to tell the kind of gun I am getting shot with.
